A Revisit To M2Cafe

The last time I patronized M2Cafe&Catering was somewhere in Oct 2013. My second time was last week, during Jalan Jalan Cari Makan shooting with my fellow blogger friends from Blooggersdotcom.

The steamboat&grill spread offered by this steamboat joint is RM30 for adult and RM15 for a child, inclusive of drinks.

image

The usual selections of veggies and noodles for the steamboat is still there.

image

So is the seafood selection

image

And so is the fresh fruits and cakes. But I won’t be talking much about them.

I’ll be honest. I wasn’t really impressed with the steamboat soup during the first time around. The soup was rather diluted to my liking and lacks flavours.

So this time around my husband and I decided to go easy and just have these…

And these…

But a revisit to the M2Cafe during Jalan Jalan Cari Makan Shooting last week proves that there are improvements. The soup base was much better in comparison to our first visit to M2Cafe&Catering. It was much more distinctive in flavour and much thicker.

Was looking forward to having roasted lamb again, only to discover that the whole roasted lamb was removed from the menu and was replaced by whole roasted chickens instead.

image

Offerings spotted at the grill section; chicken wings, grilled lamb, and chicken cutlets.

Skewered seafood

Chicken satay

Chicken rice is also available in M2Cafe&Catering. Yes. It’s part of the buffet and I’ll be elaboring about that later.

image

My son had these from the grilled section. According to him the chicken wings was superb but the satay was mediocre and he wished that there was the usual peanut sauce to accompany it. I have no idea if they provide peanut sauce to go with the satay as I was too busy checking out other new items being offered to diners that day.

image

Skewered seafood consists of prawns, calamari rings and capsicums slices. The prawns are juice and succulent. No complains here.

image

New item on their menu: Spaghetti Bungkus. This dish is actually fried spaghetti all rolled up in an omelet and served with a flood of beef stew as the sauce. Not too bad in my opinion, but I would definitely prefer a much more sourish sauce to go with the spaghetti in comparison to the beef sauce. But this dish is all right and should you spot it when you patronize this steamboat buffet joint, this dish is a must try.

Prawn Noodle is another new item on their menu. It wasn’t there during the first visit. My comment? The soup was too spicy to my liking. Had a small bowl but wasn’t keen on finishing it for the fear that I would get tummy upset after that.

image

Lamb chop from the grill section. The lamb was medium rare and it was fantastic! The meat was tender, juicy and flavourful while the accompanying black pepper sauce was not overwhelming. Definitely wouldn’t mind a second or third helping of this, but I still have long way to go before I conclude my gastronomic adventure that night.

image

My tummy was pretty much overload. but the aroma of Nasi Ayam Manjoi from the chicken rice stall beckons me.

image

The roasted chicken were cut into pieces and served with a special sweet and spicy sauce and topped with a shaving of cucumber and carrots. The chicken was fabulous and perfectly done.

image

While the rice is wonderfully fragrant and flavourful. The texture of the rice was fluffy too and the chicken rice was not overly greasy. Highly recommended to all chicken rice lovers.

image

Cakes from dessert section was all right. A tad dry and lack moist to my liking but my son loves it.

image

Ice cream. Nothing to shout about.

image

And I concluded the satisfying meal with a bowl of ice kacang that I assembled myself from the dessert counter.

Overall, the dining experience here in M2Cafe and Catering is an okay experience. Don’t expect premium seafood items, but if you’re looking for Halal steamboat and grill with varieties, this is the place that you should go.

The restaurant is located just opposite of KL Festival City Mall, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. For more information, reservations and current promotions, please check out their HERE
