American BBQ at Utara Coffee House, Armada Hotel PJ

There is a recipe to a long-lasting marriage; which is to fall in love over and over again with the person that you married. Not particularly easy as we tend to get too comfortable as time goes by and consequently, we are prone to take our spouse’s existence for granted. Resentments will then get bottled up, leading to all sort of problems that will breaks marriage apart.

I learned things the hard way, and therefore, I try not to take things for granted and try not to get too comfortable or feel too secure in my marriage and strive to have a more quality relationship with my husband with each passing day. And I believe, he strive to do the same too, despite the fact that we are now no longer the carefree teenagers we once were when we both just met, and have our own commitment to our work and our career.

I don’t want to fall out of love with my husband. Despite of his flaws…I couldn’t imagine my life without him, and I believe the feelings is mutual. I’m not the brightest crayon in the box, but I make a point to find something that both of us could enjoy doing together as often as possible, and in return, my husband will make an effort to find time to be with me and our son.

One of the things that we enjoy doing is sampling good food. We can never go wrong with a dinner date, and so we make a point to dine somewhere good once a month or attend and invited food review.

One of our all time favourite feel-good place to dine in is at Utara Coffee House, Armada Hotel PJ. There is nothing not to like there. Good food, relaxing ambiance despite the fact that it is located in the midst of the bustling city, friendly and accommodating staff, and not to mention wonderful chefs who strive to prepare fabulous meals for us to sample.

Food in Utara Coffee House, Armada Hotel, PJ is usually good, but their most recent promo is to die for. They are having this American BBQ promo and I have to say that there is nothing on the menu that I don’t like.

Here is what my husband and I managed to try last week:

Chicago Beef Ribs (RM 45.00). Braised spare rib in sweet onion BBQ sauce, served with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The ribs was juicy and tender and while I’m usually put off by onions, this combination works surprisingly well for me. The mashed potato was buttery and creamy enough for me too. Beef lovers would definitely approve this.

Latin American Chipotle Spring Chicken(RM 32.00)Marinated smoked dried Jalapeno chicken charbroiled, served with potato and farmer’s vegetables. The spring chicken was not only tender but was juicy and bursting with flavours. It was delicious and the potatoes and fresh farmer’s vegetable on the side makes this quite a balanced meal. Recommended to hungry eaters who wants a lovely balanced meal that won’t really ruin their diet.

BBQ Salmon Steak (RM 32.00) Lemony marinated salmon steak grill, served with avocado tomato salsa, potato & farmer’s vegetables. I’m usually put off by the smell of fishes, but this one’s an exception. Compliment to the chef for a well executed dish. The salmon steak had no fishy smell whatsoever and to be honest, I won’t mind to having seconds.

Texas Osso Bucco (RM 43.00) Quite a tongue twister to pronounce but this lamb shank with honey BBQ is marinated and charbroiled to perfection. Served with ginger mustard BBQ sauce and a bed of buttery and creamy mashed potatoes, this dish is simply irresistible. Then lamb shank was fall off the bone tender and flavourful. The best part of it? The lamb shank does not have any unpleasant smell whatsoever that could put you off from eating it. Thumbs up for this dish. It was done with a flair only an experienced chef could.

Hawaiian Barbeque (RM 40.00) If you fancy some variety, then go for this hearty mix of tasty beef, chicken and lamb cutlet. They are charbroiled to perfection and paired with with hot pineapple and pepper sauce. Mildly spicy and tangy at the same time. Rather exciting on the palate.

And last but not least, Fisherman’s Treat (RM 38.00). Any seafood lovers would be tempted to reel this in. This platter consists of a grilled combination of seafood, fish, prawns, mussels and squid, served with garden salad and lemony BBQ sauce. My husband prefers to have all the seafood with the specially concocted lemony BBQ sauce but personally I thought that they are already deliciously flavoured to have on their own.
