Emotional detachment is necessary

How many of you parents out there is facing the difficulty to ask your children to get rid of their security item? I don’t know if any of you have this problem, but I certainly do have this problem with my kid.

He is still very fond of his blanket at a very advance age and is still dragging that thing around regardless of my nagging and scolding. I don’t like the idea of him carrying his blanket around as if his life depends on it. It is not only unsightly, but also a very bad habit as the blanket will get very dirty afterwards.

I know that he’s used to having the blanket with him everyday and is very possessive about it, but I think it’s time for him to get rid of this habit since he is no longer a mere toddler.

But how…how do I get him to be emotionally detached from the stinking blanket? I’ve tried scolding and nagging and hiding his beloved blankie, but it does not work.

How do you get your kid to be emotionally detached from the things that makes them feel safe and secure? *Sigh* Any idea?

Cleffairy: Got to get rid of the blankie during the day. Need to find a better hiding place for it!

Both my 8 & 10 years old kids have their small bantal busuk. Actually, I’m quite ok with them as long as it’s not too over. It’s only within their room
