This is a particularly difficult book for me to read and review. Not because the author made a complete blunder out of it, but because the author reminded me of the awful things I would prefer not to remember and put it behind me. It hurt very much to read this book because it’s agonizingly familiar and way too close to home.

I dare not read this book. I stopped reading after the first chapter because I ended up crying at the husband and wife scenario that was written in the book. This is a self-help book, intending to help couples who had lost their trust in each other and patch up their marriage. It would have helped me very much if I came across this book last year, but not now as I am already pass that point (hopefully and would remain so) and I prefer to leave the past where it belongs: In the past.

Doubtlessly, this book ought to be able to help a lot of couples out there. I know it is not professional of me, but I rate this book a 5 regardless. Why? Because I’m convinced that the book would be helpful for couples who wants to save their marriage but do not know how or where to start.

Book description:

A few days after an ordinary Valentine’s Day, Cindy Beall’s life changed forever. She listened with disbelief to her husband, Chris, a respected pastor, confess to pornography addiction, numerous affairs, and the startling news that a woman was pregnant with his child.

With raw honesty and intimate knowledge of pain and of God’s power to resurrect something new out of the debris of betrayal, Cindy reveals how to:

  • seek guidance, counseling, and prayer support when deceptions surface
  • help the family heal from the grief and humiliation
  • rebuild trust after porn, sex, and other addictions undermine a relationship
  • protect a marriage from lies and unfaithfulness
  • rely on God to pursue forgiveness and move forward in new promises

Cindy’s compassion, grasp of God’s Word, and the Bealls’ remarkable story will help wives and husbands trust God with their broken hearts and follow His leading, hope, and redemption.

Foreword by Craig Groeschel, bestselling author and senior pastor of LifeChurch.tv.
