Justice= Freedom + Peace?

May 1, 2011  the world’s most recent public enemy, Osama Bin Laden was pronounced dead by the US government.

Alot of people rejoice…the announcement is everywhere. On Facebook, Twitter, blogs, various media… people are rejoicing for the ultimate revenge against terrorism. They rejoiced because they think that justice has been served.

But then again, how can people actually think that justice has been served? Are you honestly that shallow?

His death does not change the fact that the world still lives in terror and is still plagued with many humanitarian issues. Yes. Osama and the Talibans are terrorist, but path that US took was evil too, for while they called for peace, they have done it with weapons in hand. How can you call that peace and justice? How can you rejoice at one man’s death when the fact is that his death changed nothing?

How can you say that with his death, justice is being served and the world would be a better place and a more peaceful place to live? His death does not bring back peace. His death does not bring the innocents back to life, and with his death, the world still have to live in terror of counter-attack by his followers? How can you say with his death, there’s justice, there’s closure, and there’s freedom and peace when the truth is there is none?

How can peace be justified by holding weapons and shooting at each other? How can one takes the life of others for vengeance and then someones gets revenge by taking his life. How is that kind of twisted thinking going to bring us peace, I wonder, for the cycle will go on and one and will never stop.

If you should kill someone’s husband in battle, then his wife will despise you for that. And if you were to kill someone’s son, then his mother will hate you for that as well. Is this not the truth of it all?

The chain…it would be unbreakable. It’s the chain of murder, or destruction, not of peace or justice or even freedom.

What actually happens in a war is that everyone has some kind of reason, but in truth, no one actually does. Ponder that.

You may say whatever you want regarding Osama’s death. But to me, his death doesn’t change the fact that the ones who had succumb in war is not exactly terrorists themselves, but the civilians.

Will the world be a more peaceful place with his death? No. His death changed nothing.

Osama Bin Laden was not the number 1 public enemy. We are our own public enemy for we allowed ourselves to hold weapons and shoot at each other each time we failed to come to an agreement. We are our own public enemy because we allowed such monstrosity to spread.

Cleffairy: Allow me to share a quote with you, “I will mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” ~Martin Luther King Jr

It does not change the fact that the world still lives in terror and is still plagued with many humanitarian issues. The path that US took was evil too, for while they called for peace, they have done it with weapons in hand. How can you call that peace and justice?

It is really sad that humankind has not progressed from the days of Moses and “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”. The war against terrorism is justified in the hope that it may come to and end for the good of all mankind…but it should not be done out of revenge. As long as people do not learn to love one’s enemies as themselves, violence will beget violence and this, I’m afraid will go on and on…and nobody will emerge the better for this.

The man is dead but rejoicing in the streets over the demise of any fellow human being comes across quite barbaric – and what worse, it was in a supposedly civilised, advanced nation. Real sad.

Yes. When I heard about his death and when I saw people are practically throwing a party because of his death, I feel sad. I keep wonder, what we have become. Are we even human to feel happy for such death? 🙁 I mean, his death change nothing. his death can’t bring back the innocents who were killed…nor can it bridge the religious tension between Muslims and the non-Muslim. Clearly… this is revenge oriented and not peace oriented. Does it provide closure? In the end… no to that too, cuz his people will counter attack to avenge his death for sure.

On war… I think nothing is justified by killing. I don’t know. I always think that no good will come out of it. The one who suffers the most when war occurred is not the terrorists or the soldiers, but women, children and the old people… the civilians who got nothing to do with war at all.

You’re right when you say we haven’t advance from the days of Moses. 🙁 This is just so sad!

Let’s not talk compared sth as big as war – if just said quarrel or squabbles, how many can have that forgiving spirit & to mutually respect each other??

But anyway you always have sth big to ponder on & your posting here reflects that!

I always have a lot of things to ponder about… just that I dun write everything on my blog. I have to spare my readers from my thoughts, I guess. People get bored of it.

Thank you so much for this post. I was contemplating on what the world has become to last night when the news broke out. Why would God -fearing people rejoice at the death of a man, even if he was a villain? Hearing Julia Gillard (PM of Australia) gloat that she was thankful at the death, seemed very wrong to me.

A world filled with revengeful hate will ultimately lead to more destruction, as humanity’s values falter and go on a freefall.

Nonid to see far, our own PM said the world will be a better place with Osama’s death. Highly embarrassing and shallow statement, considering that the man’s death changed nothing.

yeah….well said! The real problem is our nature. If you read the old testament, histories of countries and etc, it’s all war between tribes or between brothers and etc! I totally agreed with STP that we haven’t advance since Moses days. Afterall, US supports the Taliban back in the 80s.
Hope there will be peace again…!

Well said Cleffairy.. a death of one enemy does not ease the pain of thousands of death of soldiers which were sent out in the war. And truthfully, i don’t see this as an end to terrorism as well.

    • Cleffairy says:

Soldiers? Not only soldiers… those who were killed in wars mostly are not just soldiers, but harmless women, children and civilians… people who got nothing to do with war. 🙁 Sad case… so many are victimized… his death changed nothing… and brings back nothing. I dun understand why people can rejoice and say that justice has been served.

Good write up. Was thinking of writing it (already drafted it)…yours are better.

His death is nothing…am sure he already got people standing by in case anything happens to him.

His photos should not be release. It will only fuel his supporters…and they will go hyper over it.

    Never ending story.

    • Cleffairy says:

Yes, indeed, his death changed nothing and i can only pray that the extremist won’t go berserk over his death; as in their opinion, his death was uncalled for and is considered as ultimate disrespect towards Islam. 🙁 Neverending story. Sick of it.
