Food Factory, located at 3rd floor in First World Plaza at Resorts World Genting is offering sumptuous treats for hi-tea as it’s school holiday special, in conjunction of Genting International Children’s Festival 2016.The best part about all of this? It’s buffet and all you can eat style instead of ala carte. The high tea buffet offers great variety of food in separate counters; Western, East Asian, West Asian, Western Delights and of course Pastries as well as Desserts. Beverages are free flow as well.

Here’s what you can expect from food factory during their school holiday special Hi Tea Buffet:

Their buffet menu is on rotation basis, and as usual, since it’s buffet style and we can’t possibly eat everything they offer, so here’s sharing with you what I think is worth the calories. This is what we had, a bit of everything from the buffet spread.

For starters, we decided to go with something light and easy on the tummy: Cheese and crackers. While the cheese is not something gourmet and merely the ordinary cream cheese, it is proven to be something good to start our hi tea session with.

Approaching the Salad Bar, we assembled some of our own Fruit Salad, consisting of Granny Smith’s apple slices and lettuce with cherry tomatoes. Granted, there were nothing elaborated but the vegetables and the fruits at the counter were all crisps and fresh, making everything cheerfully palatable.

Pizza slices. Not very heavy on the toppings, with just bits of mushrooms and chicken hams and lightly topped with mozzarella cheese , but they are definitely a favourite among children that day.

Mini Chicken Burger was another favourite among children. They came in cute three-bite size and was perfectly stacked. My son loves this very much and we ended up having seconds.

Spaghetti Bolognese from the pasta counter was not too bad. Pasta was al-dante and the sauce was nicely flavoured.

Grilled Stingray and Squid from the action counter. I did not take these but my husband did and he assured me that it was fresh and adeptly grilled.

Fried Chee Cheong Fun is one thing that you wouldn’t want to miss should you patronize the Food Factory. This delicacy can be found at the Chinese Food counter and is uniquely prepared, I must say. Chee Cheong Fun is a Chinese delicacy usually prepared plain and with sweet and spicy sauce on the side and is never fried. This is definitely an innovation and the best part? It tastes great.

Roti Benggali with a side of chicken rendang was simply lovely. I’d recommend this for those who prefers something local and nostalgic for hi tea. I could still remember the 3pm treats my mother would serve me after school in my youth. It’s exactly like this; thick toasted bread with a side of curry or rendang dip.

Pastry Platter, something I assembled from the pastry counter. There’s an extensive selection of pastries, but in the end I decided to keep it simple and just go for the chicken pie, apple pie and the all time local favourite, fried banana.

Assorted sandwiches. Again, nothing elaborate but designed to keep your tummy filled up and comfy.

Traditional Chinese Chicken Soup was absolutely soothing and comforting. A must have if you spot this at the buffet spread.

Assorted Dimsum from the Chinese food counter. Not that many selection but enough to keep you satisfied. There’s steamed buns, prawn rolls and of course, siew mai.

Yam Rolls is one of the highlights from the Chinese food counter. I did not have these as I’m allergic to yam, but seeing it being polished by my boys, I think it is safe to say that these are delicious too.

Pancakes drizzled with maple syrup. The pancakes was fluffy and buttery as pancakes should be and a must try if you would like something sweet for tea.

We finished off our meal on a sweet note with gummy jellies and lollipops, which surely give us a bit of sugar rush afterwards.

Overall our dining experience at Food Factory was very pleasant and the kitchen staff were all helpful too. Dirty plates from our table were cleared at timely manner for our dining pleasure. Apart from the fabulous food selection, we were also treated to live preparation of food using machines. More about behind the scenes in the kitchen at the Food Factory in the next post, but in the meantime, do make a run to Food Factory should you be in Resorts World Genting this March 2016.
