Resorts World Genting’s Magical Christmas Countdown with Al McKay’s Earth, Wind & Fire Experience

Tis’ the season of love, giving and magic; that’s exactly what Al McKay’s Earth, Wind & Fire Experience gave to their Malaysian fans at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting as they performed an incredible set list of Earth, Wind & Fire hits on Christmas Eve last night. The band created a remarkable Christmas atmosphere that turned Arena of Stars into a disco-like stadium with thousands of fans moving their feet and throwing their hands in the air.

Three vocalist of the band – Tim Owen, Claude Woods and DeVere Duckett greeted fans with “Apa Khabar?” as they threw in some 70s groove throughout their set. Along with them was James Manning (bass guitar), Ben Dowling (keyboards), David Iwataki (keyboards), Anthony Beverly (drums), David Leach (percussion), Yoel Nunez (saxophone), Luis Gonzalaz Abreu (trumpet), Omar Peralta (trumpet) and Shaunte Palmer (trombone). As the crowd sang along to “After The Love Has Gone”, the band went on to pay tribute to the man himself who put together all the members of EWF Experience together and how he made the night happen for the 13 ensemble to perform in Malaysia. Claude Wood gave a special introduction to Al McKay who is the song writer & producer of the original Earth, Wind & Fire music; calling out all his past achievements of “9 Gold Singles, 14 Platinum albums, 3 American Music Awards, 6 Grammy Awards, Song Writers Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “I want you all to give up to this wonderful man, my brother” shouted Claude on stage. As the night got closer to midnight, the group turned up their beats to have everybody going. Hands clapping, whistle blows and loud cheers as the band started the countdown for Christmas. Gundala Movie Review

Gundala is an adaptation of the first comic book character in Indonesia by Harya “Hasmi” Suraminata published by Jagat Cinema in 1969. The comic has received a great deal of attention from comic lovers in Indonesia and has been published in 23 editions since 1982.

The movie tells the story of Sancaka who lived on the streets since he was a child after being abandoned by his parents. The hardships of life makes Sancaka often think about how he must endure to survive. As things get worse, Sancaka needs to choose to just protect himself or to become a hero to help the oppressed.

Starring Abimana Aryasatya, Tara Basro, Ario Bayu, Cecep Arif Rahman, Rio Dewanto and Muzakki Ramdhan and Malaysian actor Bront Palarae, the film was written and directed by the famous Indonesian director Joko Anwar. Gundala is co-produced by Screenplay Films and BumiLangit Studios, and distributed by Legacy Pictures. It is the first installment in the BumiLangit Cinematic Universe.

What I think about this movie:

The Bad

Plenty of violence against children, too much villains and not enough heroes. It’s really gory and reveals the dark side of politics with plenty of corruption around. For those who loves superheroes movies will find that this is terribly slow paced in the beginning, laced with loads of sub-plot that’s really confusing if you get a little sidetracked while watching the movie. Character development and growth should have been sped up a little faster. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend for young viewers and only great for those 18 years and above. This is not your regular family get-together movie.

The Good

Realistic and impressive hand-combat scene. Gundala does not use those overly pretty CGI too often, and therefore the combat scenes arereally satisfying to watch. Plenty of comic-relief filler and quite a few inspiring and memorable quotes.

Rating

I’d rate this a 3.5 star.

So far, Gundala has won three awards at the Indonesia Film Festival 2019 through the Best Director of Cinematography (Ical Tanjung), Best Visual Effects (Abby Eldipie) and Best Voice Actor (Santosa Artists, M. Ikhsan & Anhar Moha)

The movie will be screened in Malaysia on 26 December 2019 while the Gundala comic book will be on sale at selected MPH bookstores on the same date.

Master Pasto, Halal Ready to Eat Pasta For Travel

Traveling and holidaying but food is quite a concern? Tired of the same old instant cup noodles and wants something rather gourmet without breaking the bank? Get yourselves some Master Pasto: 3-Minute Wonder Instant Pasta.Yes. You’re reading that right. 3 minutes and pasta in one same line. This Master Pasto: 3-Minute Wonder Instant Pasta takes only 3 minutes to prepare. Made by Lioco Food Industries Sdn. Bhd.Instant, these pasta comes in a box. They are fully cooked and no need to refrigerate. The Master Pasto: 3-Minute Wonder Instant Pasta contains no MSG and is Halal certified.

So, I’ve been planning for a camping trip in a couple more weeks, and I got myself Master Pasto: 3-Minute Wonder Instant Pasta in 3 flavours; Spaghetti Bolognese with Chicken,  Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Chicken and the Spaghetti Mushroom with Cream Sauce to try.

Each of these Master Pasto: 3-Minute Wonder Instant Pasta comes with flexy packy pouch that contains ready to eat pasta and pasta sauce.

To prepare the pasta is really easy and idiot-proof. There are two ways to get this done. Either reheat the pasta directly in the pan, or simply immerse both of the pack in hot water and serve the pasta. But I have always preferred heating it directly as the heat are more thorough. If you don’t have a microwave in your kitchen like me, simply pour some water into the pan, open up the flexy pack and place the pasta and the sauce and let it simmer for 3 minutes with medium fire. Then remove it from the pan, pour into serving plate and serve. To reheat in a microwave, simply pour the contents of the flexy pack into a plate and microwave it for just 1 minute. Do make sure to pour the contents out before reheating in your microwave. The flexy pack is not microwavable, mind you.

Here’s my Instant Spaghetti. Looks pretty much like it’s cooked from scratch, no? This Instant Pasta taste like it’s cooked from scratch too, I assure you. It doesn’t taste funny or weird and it taste like a regular Malaysian Pasta. My family complimented me for being such a genius. I’m definitely a happy camper and would definitely buy more of this Ready To Eat Meal. It’s not only great for a quick meal at home but especially great for Muslim travelers who would like a fuss-free and Halal meal that is not only easy to prepare but is delicious and nutritious as well.

These ready to eat pastas are also available in convenient pack as well where a fork is also included for your easy enjoyment. This one’s especially great for traveling and similar to the flexi packs, it also comes in 3 variant of flavours, Spaghetti Bolognese with Chicken,  Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Chicken and the Spaghetti Mushroom with Cream Sauce. Personally, I would recommend you the Spaghetti Bolognese with Chicken. It’s saucy, and taste really fresh as if it was freshly made instead of coming out from packages like this. A gourmet material if you are traveling, I must say. The other two flavours are good too. The Aglio Olio tasted pretty much light while the Spagheti Mushroom with Cream Sauce is rich and creamy on the palate, but I guess I’m more to a Bolognese kinda girl. So yea, after having sampled it, I’m definitely gonna stock up more of it for my upcoming camping trip.

So, where to buy these awesome pastas? Here are where you can buy the Master Pasto pastas:

– KK Mart
– Hero Market
– Jaya Grocer (Penang)
– Billion Group
– KSUtama
– Urban Retail
– Jazco Speedmart

*Note: It’s also available  for purchase online via their online store.

Resort World Genting Brings Christmas Cheer and Festive Joy to Underprivileged Children

Christmas is more than just the season of joy and merriment; it is also the season of giving. In keeping with the spirit of sharing and caring, it was a day of magical charm 6,000 feet above sea level as Resorts World Genting hosted 300 underprivileged children from ten homes on 9th December 2019 to a beautiful Christmas party full of splendour and wonder.

After an exciting journey up the mountain, the children were welcomed to the Coffee Terrace at Genting Grand Hotel. The restaurant was transformed into wonderland in the sky just for the children. Fluffy white clouds of all sizes and shapes floated around the space, with silver, white and blue balloons enhancing the fairytale-like atmosphere. In this paradise, the children got to mingle with Santa who was the magician and balloonist of the event. Ms Katherine Chew, Vice President of Resort Communications and Public Relations of Resorts World Genting hosted the event with her team and volunteers.

A blast of silver confetti then marked the start of the party, allowing the children to tuck into a traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. Hailing from ten homes – Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras, Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Insan, Good Samaritan Home, Sai Pandian Orphanage Children Home, Pusat Jahaan Bribuan Kasih, Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association Kuala Lumpur & Selangor, Rainbow Home Cheras, Yayasan Sunbeams Home and Lotus Charity Care Centre – the halls were filled with the sound of children’s laughter and chatter over lunch. Serenading the group as they feasted was the organizing team from Resorts World Genting. They got everyone into the Christmas mood
with classic songs such as We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Jingle Bells, Feliz Navidad and Jingle Bell Rocks.

Katherine Chew, Vice President of Resort Communication & Public Relations of Resorts World Genting said, “Its Genting Winter Wonderland here at the resort! There are so many things to see and do this Christmas at the resort and we wanted to share this magical experience with every child who are here today. It’s a small gesture from us but we hope we have brought cheer, pleasant memories and a big amount of joy to these children.”

Having had a hearty meal – which included fluffy meringues, sweet cotton candy and snow-dusted doughnuts in keeping with the cloud theme – the children were then treated to a fun-filled magic and balloon show. After that thrilling performance, the children were encouraged to come on stage to perform their favourite number for the Christmas season, the cloud wonderland instantly turned into a disco destination. And, of course, Christmas is never complete without presents. Chew was invited on stage to distribute the gift to each child who personally chose their own gifts from a wishlist provided by employees of Resorts World Genting. Ranging from remote controlled cars, building blocks and make-up sets to sports shoes, scooters and bicycles, each present brought the biggest smile of to each child.

After a group photography session, it was then time for the children to wander and witness the amazing Christmas entertainment available at Resorts World Genting – they head down to SkyAtrium to witness the beautiful Nutcracker wonderland; walked over to SkySymphony stage and stood under the lights in amazement as the colourful Snowball Express performance started. It played out dazzlingly across three-story high screens.

Indoor treats are fun, but there’s more to be seen outside. The group then headed outdoors into the cool mountain air to see the bright lights and beautiful sounds of the Genting Winter Wonderland at Metro Park. The children got to experience an authentic European Christmas market and see the towering crystalline Christmas tree. The group trooped around as they get in line to move to their next destination.

At Snow World, the children donned jackets and gloves to frolic in the snow. Making snow balls, sliding down with tubes and hiding in the igloos. The children covered the entire place and explored the 3D art installation and posed for pictures. It was an experience that they will never forget and treasure as they bade goodbye to their Resorts World Genting hosts with a final round of smiles, cheers and hugs.

Sky VR Opens in Resorts World Genting

Are you an Adrenaline junkie or a thrill seeker? Wanna get your endorphin fix but don’t really feel like traveling miles away from home just to dive into the depth of the ocean or go to exotic places for some skygliding experience? Well, here’s one solution for you: Enter the world of virtual reality and sign up for thrill seeking activities like diving hundreds of meters under the sea or fly up high into the sky. No Open Water Diver license or crash course on jumping down the aircraft needed.

The power of virtual reality is to transport people into a whole new world; one that looks, feels and sounds utterly real. As the next horizon of entertainment, Resorts World Genting is offering its VR gamers the chance to experience the most immersive adventure of a lifetime with the debut of Sky VR – a section of the park dedicated to the most exciting and exhilarating virtual reality games in the world.

Sky VR offers five amazing experiences; VirtuGlobe, XD Theater, Vortex, RoboCoaster and SkyGlider VR. Ranges from intergalactic adventures to family-friendly journeys into the great unknown.

XD Theater

The XD Theater is a multi-sensory media-based simulator ride for the family.

It can accomodate up to 32 guests together to experience this interactive attraction, which transports them into fascinating new worlds – a pirate world brimming with aggressive monsters, for example – where everyone must work together to fend off attacks and beat bad guys. They have plenty of titles for you to choose from in the XD Theatre, but if you are looking for some shooting-rampage fun that is like no other, I’d suggest you to go with ‘The Carnival’ and ‘Robot Riot’.

Guests must be at least 90cm in height for XD Theater, which was developed by TrioTech in Canada and largest attraction of its kind in Malaysia. Recommended for a whole family fun, but not suitable for young children.

VirtuGlobe

In VirtuGlobe, you will be able to step into a free-moving VR environment.

Individuals has the liberty to make the experience as intense or as immersive as they want.

Created by Ray Latypov in the USA, VirtuGlobe – originally named Virtusphere – has been used by military agencies worldwide to train their personnel to operate in any possible environment. Requires players to have good bodily coordinations as it requires you to run or climb around during the entire experience. It makes quite a good cardio workout, I must say. Great for those who are looking for some virtual+physical challenge. You’ll sweat quite abit after playing this, so drink plenty of water to rehydrate after the game. while for VirtuGlobe, A height restriction of 130-200cm and a weight restriction of 35-130kg apply for this VR experience.

Vortex

The Vortex centres on a state-of-the-art motion platform, where guests are strapped into a central console.

Developed by Brogent in Taiwan, Vortex takes up to 12 guests on a rambunctious rollercoaster ride, fending off an invading gauntlet with ultra-realistic graphics as the platform vibrates and shudders to the on-screen action. The first-of-its-kind in Asia, Vortex is open to guests between 100-195 cm in height.

Robo Coaster

The RoboCoaster, created by Sangwha in South Korea, eschews guns for glorious discoveries. Up to 4 guests can experience a VR rollercoaster ride into an undiscovered robotic realm, filled with amazing structures and curious creatures that can be viewed in full 360 degrees. Guests must be between 130-190cm to experience RoboCoaster. I’ve tried this and I must forwarn you; the experience is not for the faint-hearted or for those with motion sickness. Thrill seekers will be able to apreciate the entire experience, though.

Skyglider VR

And finally, if all you want to do is soar through the sky like a majestic eagle, then SkyGlider VR provides that very experience.

Using a chair strap, feel the amazing sensation of gliding on a paraglider while seeing the world from a different perspective as wind machines simulate the feeling of rushing through the air several hundred metres above the ground.

Three levels of skill are available – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced – with so much to see you can be assured that no two VR glides experience will be the same. The first of its kind in Malaysia, SkyGlider was developed by FrontGrid; guests must be between 110-190cm and be under 150kg in weight for SkyGlider VR. Abit challenging for first timers to navigate while in the air during the VR experience, but trust me, it’s worth all your time. Once you get a hang of it, you’ll be asking for repeated experience.

SkyVR is located at Level 2 of Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park in Resorts World Genting. Operating from 10am-10pm daily, Sky VR experiences are on a pay-per-ride basis. Hairy Mary Hair Remover Experts Opens Third Branch in Publika

Women love our hair but let’s be honest, we only like it in certain places—on our heads and on our pets. Taming the fuzz can result in much time and money spent with literally painful results. Wary of laser-burn or fed-up of in-growns?Your answer could be Hairy Mary, your hair removal specialists, the centre is the first to use a cutting-edge Korean-based THOR laser treatment to permanently zap hair away.Judging by its fast-growing presence in the Klang Valley with 3 outlets opening in just one year, the technology has proven to be very popular.Hairy Mary started as an offshoot to Dr Por’s aesthetic clinic YS Clinic, which provides a range of services treating various concerns such as aging, pigmentation and scarring.Dr Por is a licensed medical physician and a member of the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. Dr Por decided to establish a separate outlet after demand skyrocketed.According to founder Dr Por Yang Sheng, THOR’s superior delivery system to conventional IPL treatments is the reason why. It targets areas with more precision for maximum efficiency.“This laser emits a more concentrated burst in single wavelengths which means that individual hair follicles can be targeted and destroyed. Energy distribution is also more even. It’s quicker, so clients enjoy shorter treatment sessions,” explains Dr Por. The innovative advances in THOR laser technology combine a cooling system that minimizes damage to surrounding tissue which results in less pain.“My clients are very satisfied with this treatment because they hardly feel any pain. It’s practically pain-free! They also report less sensitivity after treatment,” says Dr Poh.Adding to the customer experience is a complimentary post-treatment kit for home application. It contains preparations from Spain made from plant extracts that help soothe, heal and prevent future growth.THOR works on all skin and hair types unlike IPL, which can be less effective on light or fine hair.“This system allows us treat a wide variety of people from diverse ethnic groups with any skin and hair colour and type. In a multicultural country like Malaysia it’s important for us to be able to cater to everyone, “Dr Por explained. And because it’s more efficient, fewer sessions are required to see results which can lead to significant cost-savings.Pain-free, faster, and cheaper? Is this too good to be true?“Actually, clients do report hair reduction after just one session and depending on the area, need fewer visits to achieve a permanent solution compared to IPL. So yes, it can be very kind to your purse!” said Dr Por.“Overall, I feel this is the most comfortable and effective way to treat unwanted hair permanently. We are trained specialists and I hope more customers try our safe and proven service at Hairy Mary,” says Dr Por.In conjunction with the opening of Hairy Mary’s new Publika branch, the company is pleased to announce a collaboration with celebrity and entrepreneur Ardell Aryana whose vast experience in the beauty industry and creative spirit will help boost Hairy Mary’s expansion.Hairy Mary currently offers its clients MYR118 for 1-year treatment of selected part Year-end promotion with up to 70% discounts of its normal treatment price. For more info on Hairy Mary, visit: https://www.hairymary.com.my
