Sweet Sensation in Meet Fresh Pavillion

How was your Sunday, folks? Mine was pretty sweet, considering that I was invited to the launching of Meet Fresh in Pavillion, KL.

Meet Fresh is another one of those fancy outlet that sells fanciful ‘tong sui’. Yups, you’re reading that right. ‘tong sui’. That’s desserts in English, people! πŸ˜›

Here in Meet Fresh, you get to get a taste of traditional Taiwanese dessert. πŸ˜€ Awesome for those who would love to have a bowl of refreshingly sweet dessert without slaving in the kitchen for hours for it. πŸ˜€

I was there early, so I spied their menu. There are plenty of Taiwanese dessert on their menu. I must say that I’m quite impressed with what they are offering.

Being a tea lover, I find that their selection of herbal tea is kinda awesome.

And yes, for all of you who are practically married to your smartphones and can’t part with your gadgets, there’s free WIFI provided for the patrons in the outlet. *roll eyes* So yes, ladies and gentlemen, you don’t have to worry about not being in touch with your geeky side when you decided to have a dessert or two in this outlet.

The outlet was closed to public for 2 hours that day to pave way for the launching. Here’s the section where invited media and bloggers were supposed to be seated.

It takes quite a while for everyone to be seated, though. Us bloggers were not only busy with our social media sharing (yeah, you got it right, we made full use of the free WIFI provided. LOL), but we were pretty hyped out about the desserts too. We chatted and catch up with each other for a while before we were actually ready to sit down. πŸ˜›

When everyone finally settled down, the event finally commence with the introduction of the geniuses and the big bosses behind Meet Fresh.

Happy faces, tempting us guests to try out some of the desserts.

I’m a dessert lover and I got a little naughty that day. While everyone else were paying attention to the speech given by the Meet Fresh directors and all of its VIP regarding the Meet Fresh outlet launching and its history, I sneaked to the kitchen to get a peek on how our desserts were actually made. Was really surprised that the kitchen was squeaky clean and not a pot is out-of-place. The staff adhered to the strict hygiene guidelines, and I daresay that even the clean freaks would approve of this outlet.

I thought that maybe…maybe I can steal a recipe or two and make some at home. But unfortunately for me, the process is kinda complicated. πŸ™

 photo IMG_2568_zps62187aff.jpg

I’ve always loved the taro balls, and always wish to make my own at home, but there are so many steps to follow in order to produce a batch of it and I can’t possibly make it at home without proper recipe for it. πŸ™

Feeling disheartened that I can’t manage to steal a recipe or two, I went back to my table. To be honest, I was a little disappointed. And then  I discovered this lovely menu at my table. Meet Fresh signature bestseller items. πŸ˜€

And desserts that’s offered to us bloggers and media that day, ready for my consumption. My mood was lifted immediately of course, and my earlier misadventures in the kitchen was completely forgotten. LOL! I was practically snickering gleefully inside, considering that I don’t even have to share these with anyone during the dessert tasting session. Yups. Each of us bloggers get three bowls of desserts and a glass of herbal tea each. Pretty generous of the host, huh? πŸ˜›

Feeling rather thirsty after my little rendezvous to the kitchen, I slurped up this Little Taro Balls in White Gourd Tea. Being a tea lover, I appreciate the sweetly refreshing tea. It was thick, but not heady. I love the tiny taro balls to bits, but at some point, I got rather impatient slurping up the tiny taro balls through the straw. I wish they have provided us a spoon or something to scoop up the chewy taro balls to eat. That would have been perfect in my opinion. But I’ll be fair. The tea was divine for a tea lover’s soul, and it was meant to be slowly savoured, bit by bit. πŸ˜› One thing I note about this tea that it’s probably very healthy too, considering that it does not exactly have any caffeine after-effects where I feel slightly light headed at times. I perked up immediately after drinking this, which is awesome!

Taro Balls no. 4. A combination of peal, red bean, taro balls and shaved ice.Tasted pretty much like a bean soup that my mother in law usually made for us whenever we visit. My least favourite that day. I would have preferred this hot rather than cold. But then again, that’s probably just me considering that cuz nobody else complained about it.

Next up was Tofu Pudding with Peanuts. It was fine, I guess, though I would prefer it much more if the sugar syrup was thicker and sweeter. A healthier choice of dessert, I suppose.

Last but not least during the tasting session; Meet Fresh Signature Herb Jelly. A combination of herb blended ice, herbal jelly along with taro balls and cream. This one is awesome. Sweet, refreshing and at the same time, very filling too. My number 1 favourite that day. I practically licked the bowl clean and if I had it my way, I would have asked for seconds. πŸ˜€

The emcee, interviewing one of the bloggers during the food tasting session. That’s Rebecca. Commenting on her desserts. πŸ˜€

 photo IMG_2578_zps325a5d57.jpg

And at one corner, I spotted Isaac and Clever Munkey. Caught unaware by yours truly as they yak away while having their desserts. πŸ˜›

Two pretty bloggers chilling out with each other. Look at the pretty ladies and admire them, boys, but stay away. They’re taken. πŸ˜› They’re married and they’re actually mummy bloggers. Too bad kids are not allowed that day. Otherwise I would have been able to meet their cute babies. πŸ˜›

 photo IMG_2584_zpsfe625309.jpg

Us ladies were having some bonding time, simply gossiping and chatting after the event when we were offered to Mango Supreme. πŸ˜› There are perks to being pretty ladies I guess. We get to try this lovely mango dessert topped with yam ice cream when the rest did not. Hahahaha! It was a very huge bowl, and was meant for sharing.
 photo IMG_2593_zpsb3e5b694.jpg

One for the album. πŸ˜› Naughty Rebecca couldn’t resist popping a chunk of the mango into her mouth while the picture was being taken. Oh yea, she’s on her WackyBecky mood, all right. πŸ˜›

Fancy trying out some of these dessert? Well then, just hop over to any Meet Fresh outlets in Malaysia; Pavilion, Berjaya Times Square, Laman Rimbunan Kepong and Bandar Mahkota Cheras and 1 each in Penang, Gurney Paragon Mall and Negeri Sembilan, Uptown Avenue Seremban 2.

Cleffairy: A date in Meet Fresh would be perfect for couples too, especially after a heated lover’s spat. The dessert will surely chill and sweeten things up a lil bit.

I’ve bad impressions of the tong shui. Not because of the taste, but it’s because of the amount of sugar that has been added. =(

But I’d love to give the Herb Tea a try; it sure looks something like the leong cha in town. =D

Oh, this one is not overly sweet. If anything, Meet Fresh needs to be little bit more generous on the sugar. πŸ˜› I find their tofu pudding’s syrup rather bland, to be honest.
