Unlike those who are working a 9-5 job, my work is pretty flexible, but as a writer who is always on the go, I rely on my smartphone alot to stay connected and do work whenever I’m traveling. I have plenty of smartphones that functions as my newsdesk and virtual office whenever I travel, and adding to my growing family of smartphone is the new GT-888.
The phone comes in a neat white drawer box. GT Mobile (Model GT-888) is manufactured by GT Mobile Pte Ltd, a high-tech enterprise specialized in R&D, manufacturing, sales and servicing of mobile phones.
The usual accompanying suspect; a charger unit, a jelly casing, an earphone and USB cable.
My unit is in Metal Grey colour with the size 5.5″ screen.
At only 8.6mm thin, the GT Mobile GT888 has a rather slim profile.
The GT-888 has 8MP rear camera, and 5MP front camera. This unit can support 4G connection and dual SIM. Great to use as a business or a work phone where you can just use work and personal number in one device. The battery is removable, so in case the phone hangs or anything, you can just remove it and reboot your phone easily. The casing is made with thin plastic but it is quite solid to hold.
A picture taken with the unit’s rear camera under sufficient lighting.
And here’s a selfie taken using my unit’s front camera. Pardon the lack of makeup and unruly hair, I took the selfie in the middle of the night and I was already ready for bed. My nude face aside, I think the selfie’s clarity is still acceptable.
GT-888 Video Performance by Ellie
And here’s the video taken by using the unit’s 8MP rear camera. You can’t compare the quality with my usual DSLR video recording with lav mic of course, but the phone still produce an acceptable video quality, considering the location’s low lighting and noisy surrounding.
The GT-888 comes preloaded with some neat feature and one that caught my attention is the the HotKnot feature. The HotKnot feature allows users to easily share content with other smartphone users that has the feature. All you need to do is choose photo, songs or file, and simply contact two touch screens. HotKnot will send the file immediately, faster than Wifi transmission speed. But if you want faster transfer, just plug in an OTG device. This phone supports that too. When it comes to file transfer, this phone is quite convenient, I must say. Apart from that, the phone also support quick-charging and has the ability to up to 35% in 15 minutes.
Here’s the AnTuTu benchmark test result for GT-888, in case you are wondering.
