I’m a huge fan of dimsum. Sadly, most of the restaurants that are offering dimsum on their menu are pork-serving and Non-Halal.
And so, when I discovered that My Dim Sum, a pork-free dimsum restaurant is opened just near home at Setapak Central Mall, I knew I had to check it out to fix my dimsum cravings. The restaurant is a pork-free and Muslim- friendly dimsum restaurant.
And here’s having a breaking fast gathering with my family and friends at My Dim Sum in Setapak Central Mall. We ordered their Ramadan Combo to share, which is plentiful for all of us.
The Ramadan Combo consists of 3 main course and 8 types of dimsums. In the picture: Mui Choy Bun, Salted Egg Yolk Bun, Steamed Homemade Fishballs, Tender Beef Balls, Siew Mai, Pan Fried Shanghai Dumpling and Pan Fried Teo Chew Radish Cake.
Salted Egg Yolk Bun and Mui Choy Bun. Both of the buns leans on a sweet note and is great to kick off your buka puasa meal with. They provide instant relief for hunger pang and comforts the tummy really well.
The assorted meatballs and dumplings on the other hand provides a variety of taste for you to indulge on. My favourite among all these would be the pan fried dumplings. They are filled generously with minced chicken fillings and was practically an explosion of flavours in the mouth.
Double Happiness platter consists of fried lorbak and crispy deep fried squid legs. These are really addictive and is a perfect dish for you to snack while chatting and catching up.
Curry Butter Prawn in Deep Fried Bread is a unique meal of it’s own, consisting of curried prawns served nestled in a deep fried bread basket. The curry is the rich and creamy variant that goes well with both bread and piping hot steamed rice.
Salted Egg Chicken was really good. The boneless chicken strips were practically an explosion of salted egg flavours in the mouth. It pairs perfectly as a side dish to a bowl of piping hot rice.
Fried Carrot Cake is one of my all time favourite comfort food, and I’m glad that My Dim Sum made this perfectly. It was pan-fried to perfection and was really addictive to have.
Chilled Honey Dew Sago was served as dessert. This bowl of refreshing goodness is generously filled with cubed honey dew fruit as well, and was definitely a sweet end to a sumptuos feast.
The dining experience at My Dim Sum Setapak Central Mall is fantastic. Good food, great companion, I can ask for nothing more.
