New 544-Room Conrad Kuala Lumpur to Open in City’s Golden Triangle
Hotel to be First from Global Luxury Brand in Malaysia, Bringing Contemporary Design, Leading Innovation and Curated Art to Global Travelers
Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announced the signing of a management agreement with Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) to open Conrad Kuala Lumpur in the heart of the Malaysian capital. Slated for completion in 2021, the entry of the 544-room new-build hotel will mark the launch of Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton’s global luxury brand, into Malaysia.
“We are delighted to grow our luxury brand presence with our first Conrad property in Malaysia,” said Martin Rinck, executive vice president and global head, Luxury & Lifestyle Group, Hilton. “In the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the Conrad will be underpinned by our intuitive service as well as the seamless connection between contemporary design, leading innovation and curated art that inspires our globally connected travellers.”
“Kuala Lumpur is the economic centre and cultural heart of the country and we recognise the immense tourism potential that the city has in attracting both business and leisure travellers. Leveraging this opportunity, we are excited to continue expanding our footprint and portfolio of brands across the country by working with the right partners on the right opportunities,” said Guy Phillips, senior vice president, development, Asia & Australasia, Hilton. “Permodalan Nasional Berhad is a highly regarded investment institution in Malaysia and we are truly honoured to be working alongside them to introduce our luxury Conrad brand to the burgeoning market.”
Dynamic Location
Located within the prime Golden Triangle district of Kuala Lumpur and one hour by car from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the hotel will be part of a mixed-use development that also comprises an office tower.
Guests will enjoy ease of accessibility to Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Raja Chulan, both well-connected to major thoroughfares in the city, and to tourist attractions such as the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and Bukit Bintang, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most prominent retail and entertainment belts. Business travelers will also appreciate the convenience to major business districts, as well as to vital transportation hubs in Kuala Lumpur Sentral and Bandar Malaysia.
Sophisticated Amenities and Fine Dining
When it opens, the hotel will feature an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty restaurants and one bar. Catering to both business and leisure guests, there will be a business center, spa and fitness center, as well as a pool. Guests can also hold large-scale meetings and functions in the generous events space, which measures approximately 3,400 square meters.
“Since we opened our first hotel in Malaysia 35 years ago, we have made it a focus to deliver great guest experiences to all who walk through our doors, and the strength of the Hilton brand has laid the foundation for our growth. Today we have 11 hotels open across the country under Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn and it is a huge milestone for us to be launching our luxury brand, Conrad, into the market. The opening of Conrad Kuala Lumpur will bring a new level of service experience to the luxury traveler in Kuala Lumpur and we are confident the hotel will be top of mind for both leisure and business travelers visiting the city,” said Jamie Mead, regional general manager, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam, Hilton.
“This partnership with Hilton is part of our active asset enhancement initiatives to sustain returns from our domestic real estate investments. Conrad Kuala Lumpur is a welcome addition to our real estate portfolio which we believe will contribute to strengthening the appeal of the city’s central business district,” said Rizal Rickman Ramli, executive vice president, Property/Real Estate, PNB.
In Malaysia, Hilton currently operates 11 properties across three key brands – Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn. Over the next three to five years, the company is targeting to open nine hotels in its pipeline, including five hotels under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand, as well as the introduction of lifestyle brand Canopy by Hilton.
Conrad Kuala Lumpur will be part of Hilton Honors, the award-winning guest-loyalty program for Hilton’s 17 distinct hotel brands.
