Kembara #dekatje: Asam Pedas Kuala Kubu Bharu

Tourists often mistaken Kuala Kubu Bharu as a quiet, sleepy town in Selangor, but the town located 70 km from the capital of Kuala Lumpur reveals a history that is both enriching and charming. The historic city were planted with high-value specialty trees like mahagony and tembusu and the tropical rain forest there have been home to plants and animals. Famous among birdwatchers, Kuala Kubu Bharu is also a heaven for foodies, provided you know where to find it.

There’s plenty of nice and affordable eats in Kuala Kubu Bharu, but here’s recommending you one if you are Asam Pedas fan.

Here’s one where you can enjoy authentic King Prawn Asam Pedas at a very reasonable price: Asam Pedas Kuala Kubu Bharu. My family and I discovered this gem after our trip to Kalumpang with Tourism Malaysia Selangor.

Despite of our hearty lunch, we still feel like having something to eat after that before heading home, and we ended up here, having Asam Pedas instead of getting typically light things to eat as our snacks.

The small restaurant is located at the food court of Dataran Kuala Kubu Bharu. Their specialty? Assorted Asam Pedas with King Prawn variety being their chef’s recommended dish.

The portion is huge and the prawn was really big, but go easy on the gravy.

It’s not for the faint hearted.

Highly flavoured, the gravy should be taken with a plate of piping hot rice.

We also ordered their Asam Pedas Ikan, which was delicious as well.
