Many condemn me for not being a good mother including ‘friends’ and relatives. I was once accused abusive by my husband’s friends as I’m very strict with my son. I was told to send my son to my mother in law to raise by these people because they thought I’m haven’t been doing a good job. I’m often accused of not feeding my son well as he doesn’t grow sideways and I was told in my face that I haven’t been teaching him well because he have social and communication issue as he is on the autism spectrum.
People always try to teach me how to ‘be a good mum’ by telling me what to do, but not many aknowledge me as a mother, including my family and relatives. I’ve been a mother for more than a decade as of writing. But while every other mothers receive gifts, treats, and even greetings as a token of appreciation during mother’s day all these while, I don’t. My husband grew up in a rather rigid and traditional Chinese family and is not much on celebrating such occasion while my son, well, he’s on autism spectrum and so despite his age, doesn’t really grasps the concept of Mother’s Day although he loves me very much.
Getting immune with the lack of appreciation as a mother all these while, I wasn’t expecting much on Mother’s Day 2017. After all, what special thing could happen and who would suddenly recognize me as a good mother anyway? But much to my surprise, I received an invitation as a mother to celebrate mother’s day in Resorts World Genting this year with other influencers who are mother themselves or son and daughters who are bringing their elderly mothers.
This may not sound much to some, but it means alot to me, as at least in the eyes of others, I am a mother too. It is really nice to be appreciated instead of being judged and condemned all the time.
And so, I said yes to the invitation and brought my son along with me for a fun mum and son day out on Mother’s Day in Resorts World Genting.
Our day started pretty early. We departed from Wisma Genting, Kuala Lumpur in the morning to the foot of the hill; Awana Skyway where we board the new glass floor gondola for a direct trip up to the new SkyAvenue Skyway Station.
Here’s us with other influencers at Awana Station while queing up for the glass floor gondola.
It doesn’t take long for us to board the glass floor gondola, and the journey from Awana Skyway to the SkyAvenue station merely takes about 10 minutes ride. I wish it takes longer though. The view from the glass floor gondola is magnificent.
Can’t help myself. So here’s a selfie in the glass floor gondola
With son in the glass floor gondola with foresty background.
Another photo of us in the glass floor gondola.
Touching down SkyAvenue station, it was already noon and time for lunch. As per our invitation, we head over to Dome’s Cafe for lunch.
This is my second time patronizing Dome’s Cafe at SkyAvenue. They have extensive items being offered on the menu and the food are really nice, but I wasn’t really decisive that day so I asked our host for some recommendation instead.
And here’s what recommended to us for lunch; Mushroom Soup, Minestrone Soup, Tuscan Pizza, Gourmet Chicken Pie, Berry Bliss and Coke Float. More about our dining experience at Dome’s Cafe HERE.
There were plenty of interesting activities in SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting during Mother’s Day. And here’s one of the unforgettable one, Mother’s Day flashmob at SkyAvenue.

Watch the video. Flashmob dancers actually invited the onlookers to dance along with them before presenting flowers to mothers who were present that day.
As part of their CSR program, Resorts World Genting has also invited single mothers from Raub and their children for a fun day out at Resorts World Genting on Mother’s Day. The single mothers and the children were treated to a sumptuos steamboat meal at Resort Seafood and fun time in SnowWorld before they were given hampers as a token of appreciation.
Come teatime, all of us were given a list of outlets at SkyAvenue where we can redeem our teatime snacks at.There were a total 6 of them. Gindaco, Madame Waffle, Inside Scoop, Just Heavenly, Tokyo Secret and Gong Cha. I was really happy when I looked through the list. Looks pretty much like a mini food trail, and being a foodie, I was really excited quickly made my way to the first outlet.
Gindaco was our first stop. Gindaco is a snack counter that sells all time favourite Japanese snack; Takoyaki (octopus balls).
The takoyaki are made upon order to retain its freshness and here’s some takoyaki in the making
Takoyaki. Takoyaki is a ball-shaped Japanese snack made of a wheat flour-based batter and cooked in a special moulded pan. It’s typically filled with minced or diced octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger, and green onion. In this case, it was filled with octopus bits.
Madame Waffle was our second stop. This outlets served assorted premium waffles with a selection of coffee or tea.
Our waffle, the original Madame Waffle’s waffle. Plain and no frills, the waffles from Madame Waffle is great for those who just want to grab and go.
Tokyo Secret was our third stop. This outlet offers assorted Hanjyuku Cheesecakes and Cheesetarts and is quite a rave among Malaysian food bloggers and instagrammers.
Hanjyuku Cheesetart and Cheesecake. Tastewise? Splendid. They do live up to expectations.
Next on our list was Inside Scoop. This outlet serves assorted premium ice creams, waffles and affagatos.
A variety of ice creams for you to choose from.
Our treat from Inside Scoop; Buttermilk Waffle and Strawberry Yogurt Ice Cream. This was one of the best waffle and ice cream I’ve ever tasted, and I can assure you a revisit is in order. Highly recommended if you have sweet tooth. A bonus? The staffs here are sweet too. They are helpful and eager to please as well.
Gong Cha was the last outlet my son and I visited.
There are plenty of milktea items on Gong Cha’s menu, but we had these: Refreshing wintermelon milk tea and Milktea with Herbal Jellies. Tastewise, they are okay. Great for milktea lovers.
I had a walk in SkyAvenue with my son after visiting Gong Cha but time was rather envious of us and before I knew it, it was already time to go home. Too bad things ended so soon. But well, time always flies whenever we have fun, doesn’t it? Celebrating Mother’s Day in Resorts World Genting was one of the best thing that happened to me as a mother. I feel appreciated with all the treats throughout the day, and oh…the flowers…let’s not forget the flower I received from our host. That was the first time I received a flower on Mother’s Day. It was indeed a wonderful experience and I’ll treasure the memories forever.
Thank you Resorts World Genting for making Mother’s Day fun and meaningful to me.
