The VOID- Avengers Damage Control Review

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters as well as Avengers, I have some awesome news for you. The newest virtual reality experience, Avengers: Damage Control has just hit the Malaysian shore and is now available at The VOID in Resorts World Genting.

Being a Marvel fan for a decade myself, or rather, a fan of Iron Man, here’s sharing my honest review on the Avengers: Damage Control virtual reality experience in The VOID at Resorts World Genting.

So far, The VOID has done Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, Wreck-It Ralph: Ralph Breaks VR, Ghostbusters: Dimension, Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment, and now Avengers: Damage Control.

Avengers: Damage Control takes the longest game time among other titles in The VOID. It’s about 40 minutes and I can honestly say it’s my most immersive VR experience so far.

The VR experience needs two to four players and it began when you and your team are ushered into a room with projector-like screen where Shuri , The Princess of Wakanda in Black Panther movie appears and give you your mission.

One thing that impresses me is that the message from Shuri was played exactly like the scene from Black Panther or The Avengers films. I wouldn’t want to spoil it for you but there is the Marvel Studios humour that we all love in the beginning of the game. It’s really nostalgic in some ways and makes me feel as if I’m really in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is really being recruited to be an Avenger.

After receiving the mission, you will be strapped in to the wireless backpacks vest that are responsible for tracking all of your movement as you walk from room to room. You will be also provided with extra-sensory Oculus headsets.

Once you’re all suited up in your ERS “Emergency Response Suit”, which is a hybrid of Iron Man and Black Panther’s suits, you’ll be taken to a room for some target practice. Now, if you are a first timer in all these, you’ll feel as a little weird wearing the weighted backpack and vest, but don’t worry. You’ll get used to it in a jiffy.

Basically, once you’re in the dimension and the mission is ongoing, the suit actually lets you shoot laser beams from your open hand.(Think Iron Man style). It’s really a cool experience, I must say. You can also use your palm as shield and absorb attacks.

The VOID- Avengers Damage Control is a totally a sensory experience. You can actually feel the heat when there are explosions were nearby or when you get shot. You can also feel the cold blast of wind effect when there are aircrafts flying around.

The mission is to join hands with other Avengers characters in the game to defeat the big boss and at the end of the experience, players will be given a score where you will be assessed based on the following factors: Number of Kills, Accuracy, Friendly Fire, and Energy Absorbed. Not sure how the scoring works, though. My score was really lousy and I’m really ashamed to share it with you. My teammates on the other hand, scored A. Even my son scored A while me…I kinda flunk. I guess I make a bad Avenger after all.

One for the album. I’m not a first timer with The VOID, but I walked away really impressed with this latest title.

So, The VOID- Avengers Damage Control a yay or nay? It’s a yay, definitely. I think this experience is worth your time and if you are a fan of MCU or Avengers movies, you’ll want to experience this.
The VOID is located at Level 1, First World Plaza in Resorts World Genting.

Scary Experience at Train to Busan Horror House in Resorts World Genting

Based on the blockbuster 2016 South Korean zombie apocalypse movie Train To Busan, Resorts World Genting unleashes a railway line of horror for two months that will offer a unique blend of horrific thrills and scary fun to fans of the movie and fans of horror in general.

Developed collaboratively between Resorts World Genting and virtual reality specialists Vividthree, the Horror House blends practical effects, intricate sets, as well as cutting-edge visual and virtual technology to fully immerse guests into a familiar world where the stakes are high and terror is always just around the corner.

All those elements, which made Train To Busan a runaway cinematic success, have been carefully transitioned into a unique, one-of-a-kind hyper reality experience at the Train To Busan Horror House experience.

The experience will consist of several areas, each with its own set of interactive activities. Following the plot of the movie – where the father and daughter meet in Seoul for a trip to Busan – the first part of the Horror House is themed around Seoul Station.

The second part of the Horror House takes place on the actual Train To Busan. This is where the actual spook begins for thrill seekers.

Just as the movie’s characters had to battle their way to the front car of train in hopes of surviving the journey to Busan (where a quarantine zone has been established), the Horror House tasks guests with a challenge: to make it from Train Platform and Passenger Train Carriage, through the Chemical Cargo Train and CDC Lab, to safety. The alternative will be falling as one of the infected and returning to haunt those brave enough to continue their adventure. Get to sanctuary, or fall trying.

You will find yourselves trapped in an apocalyptic version of the gigantic train station, fending off zombies and traps as they battle through environments such as the Long Corridor, the Toilet, the Supermarket, the Café and the Mirror Maze to reach their goal: the train that will take them away from this hellish nightmare.

Scary supermarket scene in Train to Busan Horror House. Definitely a nightmare material for even the most hardcore shopaholic.

The Mirror Maze is one of the confusing and challenging part of Train to Busan, I kid you not.

At the two Base Camps, those who have survived the ordeal of the train can take up arms against the horde of zombies in various Virtual Reality and other interactive activities.

These include strapping on body armour and wielding guns to defend the quarantine areas from invading zombies. Just like the finale of the movie – or fighting against time to develop a cure from the ravaging virus.

If all this adrenaline-packed action sounds tiring and sapping, then fret not. There is a payoff for everyone at the end of it: the Seoul Retail Street.

The Seoul Retail Street brings the best of Korean cuisine and K-pop culture as a reward for all those that have survived the horror of the Train To Busan.

The Train To Busan Horror House experience departs for adventure at the Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park from 31 October 2019. The Horror House will be open from Friday to Sunday between 1 November to 1 December 2019, and daily from 2 December 2019 to 1 January 2020. Tickets are priced at RM90 for regular admission (RM80 for Genting Rewards Club members). A Train To Busan Horror House single admission plus Skytropolis Preview Pass combo package is available at RM128, and guests looking at skip the queue can opt for an additional Express Pass at RM30.

The forum was officiated by CARiNG Pharmacy Managing Director. Mr Chong Yeow Siang. and Ms Maria Rica Mier, Cluster Business Executive Officer of Nestlé Health Science. At the launch, both Nestlé Health Science and CARiNG Pharmacy executives expressed their commitment to empower, and encourage people living with diabetes to take a proactive approach toward diabetes management

“Diabetes is a condition at t forefront of our organisation’s focus, and we are proud that the Live Well with Diabetes forum, is one of CARiNG Pharmacy’s many public outreach programmes to help raise awareness of the condition. We are delighted to partner with Nestle Health Science, and take the opportunity to share the positive results yielded from our Glucocare Challenge collaboration.”

“The challenge demonstrated positive change for those who took part and truly supported the participants to take charge of their health,” remarked Mr Chong Yeow Siang, Managing Director, CARiNG Pharmacy.

The highlight of the ‘Live Well with Diabetes forum, was a certificate presentation to participants who took part in the Glucocare Challenge. The three month challenge, was ran by third party nurse educators, and comprised of patient counselling, regular blood sugar level monitoring, and a specially crafted meal plan that adopted Nestle Health Science’s complete and balanced nutritional beverage for people with diabetes, NUTREN® Untuk Diabetik.

According to, Ms Rachel Liu, Dietitian from Nestlé Health Science, 19 individuals with diabetes, all below 65 years of age, and with a HbA1c reading 7% and above were selected to undergo the guided’ Glucocare Challenge to reduce their HbA1c levels. Echoing the positive results yielded from the Glucocare Challenge, Ms Liu complemented the reveal by delivering a compelling presentation on the importance of creating a balanced food plan with the inclusion of a diabetic specific formula suitable for those with diabetes “Contrary to popular belief, Type 2 diabetes can be effectively managed with a holistic approach and an understanding of the role of nutrition and how it synergises with proper meal planning. In fact, several studies have reported that a combination of therapy. counselling services, and the right nutritional assessment, show results demonstrating a 0.5-2.0 % reduction in HbA1c for people suffering from Type 2 diabetes. The key is consistency,” remarked Ms Maria Rica Mier, Cluster Business Executive Officer of Nestlé Health Science Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.”

“NUTREN® Untuk Diabetik remains one of Nestlé Health Science’s most innovative formulations designed to regulate the blood sugar level of those living with diabetes, support them stay in control, and feel energised for the rest of the day.

JOTA JOTI 2019 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I’m not a scoutgirl but when I was invited to check out the JOTA JOTI 2019, the world’s largest digital Scout event promoting friendship and global citizenship, I know I wouldn’t want to miss it for the world.

JOTA JOTI, is a short for “Jamboree in the air ” and “Jamboree on the Internet”. It is the world’s largest digital Scout event taking place online and over the air.

The educational event brings together more than 2 million scouts every year in October for a weekend of Scouting and friendship. JOTA-JOTI engages youth in educational activities that build teamwork and cross-cultural understanding.

JOTA JOTI 2019 took place in 18-20 October 2019.

During the event, the young ones gets to learn about amateur communications technology (HAM radio) and connect with fellow Scouts from all over the world.

Having recently passed my ORAE and being a HAM radio user myself, it’s really nice to see the young ones taking interest in amateur radio and communicating with each other actively. If this is not borderless friendship, then I don’t know what it is.

I had so much fun during the event and I certain look forward to check out JOTA JOTI 2020 next year.

Travelogue: Vibrant Shah Alam Media FAM Trip

Apart from the short snorkeling trip to Perhentian Island that I took during my birthday, my September 2019 was sadly uneventful. Not only I was feeling under the weather due to the haze but I suffered severe food food poisoning that lasts for more than a week as well. But for what it’s worth, bad things don’t last and I’m glad to say that I welcomed October with good health and plenty of exciting things.

Among the exciting things that’s worth penning down is that I was given the opportunity to explore the City of Shah Alam in Selangor through the FAM Trip jointly organized by Tourism Selangor and Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and sponsored by Concorde Hotel.

Shah Alam is beautiful city in Selangor. Frankly speaking, I’ve been living in Klang Valley for more than 17 years by now and I have yet to explore any places of interest in Shah Alam, and so this is all really an exciting experience for me.

The FAM Trip was a 2D1N program which showcased various faces of Shah Alam in conjunction with 19th anniversary of Shah Alam being installed as a City, focusing on the tourism sector based on science, art and culture. Apart from that, we were also given a chance to participate in the events hosted by MBSA on weekends and school holidays; like Shah Alam Car Free Day.

Here’s a little recap on the trip:

Day 1

Our first stop on the first day was the Community Gardens in Section 8, Shah Alam. We were given a different perspective on the City of Shah Alam, which also emphasized the agro-agriculture industry which supported the aspirations of agricultural-based product traders that made farming a source of income.

Our next stop was the Selangor International Islamic Arts Complex.

Selangor International Islamic Arts various exhibitions and calligraphy arts.

It was really interesting and unique.

And we had this opportunity to view a copy of huge handwritten Al-Quran that’s locked away in the saferoom. Cameras ars not allowed in the room, sadly I don’t have any pictures for you, but I assure you that the artefacts are really beautiful.

After visiting the Selangor International Islamic Arts Complex, we were brought to one of the largest mosques in Malaysia and the second largest in Southeast Asia, the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque or better known by the locals as the “Blue Mosque”.

It’s a really beautiful mosque with unique design and intricate architecture.

The mosque is really huge.

The blue mosque can accommodate 24,000 worshippers at one time. If you are a Muslim and is in the vicinity of the mosque during your visit to Shah Alam, you might want to drop by and answer the call of prayers over here. A non Muslim but interested to visit? Don’t worry. The Mosque is tourist friendly and welcomes visitors with open arms.

The first day of our Media FAM Trip: Shah Alam Vibrant concludes with a visit to the “Showcase 19” event held at the Shah Alam Independence Square.

We were was treated to a spectacular cultural show and singing performances from a lineup of local artsists; Zamani Slam, Datin Alyah, Raja Azura, Ezad Frequently, Amylea Azizan, and many others.

And guess what, guys? Here’s yours truly putting her Kpop cardio dance practice routine to good use during Shah Alam 19th Anniversary celebration concert at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam. Yes, people. Believe it. It’s true. Whoever says I’m not a fun person obviously don’t know me well enough.

Day 2

Our second day of the trip kicks off as early as the break of dawn. We were brought to the Shah Alam Car Free Day, an event that encourages Shah Alam residents to temporarily stop the use of vehicles and participate in sports and recreational activities with their families.

I personally think that this event is a good initiative. Not only it helps to reduce vehicles on the road but encourages a healthy lifestyle as well. I managed to work out a good sweat that morning and I must say, it really feels good.

The event kicks off with the release of a relaxing road show exploring the streets of Shah Alam, followed by a variety of interesting activities.

Yours truly getting a dose of Adrenaline rush by rock climbing during the event.

Families are spotted enjoying a relaxing picnic during the event.

Mobile library was also available that morning.

Our trip ends with a visit to the modern and well-equipped Raja Tun Uda Library (PPAS) with user-friendly infrastructure such as electric car service and high-end car park building for the convenience and convenience of library visitors.

The library is a heaven for bookworms like me.

Comfy discussion area aplenty over here.

Internet facilities are free of charge, so visitors can just head over and use them.

Interactive area for both adults and children.

3D Cinema showing plenty of educational movies is available at minim charge.

6D theatre experience is a must try if you visit this library.

Training rooms spotted. The rooms are used to conduct all sorts of classes daily.

Visiting the library is definitely an eye opening experience. There’s more to the library than just books. The infrastructures are designed to enrich and empower those who frequent the place and it’s definitely something I wouldn’t mind visiting everyday.

Time was envious and our trip ended too soon. So before I end this travelogue, here’s one for the album:Vibrant Shah Alam Media FAM Trip with Tourism Selangor.

I would like to thank Tourism Selangor, Shah Alam City Council and also the Concorde Hotel Shah Alam for their support in the form of accommodation for program participants, as well as first-class hospitality. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience.
