I Love Yoo! SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting

Wanna tell someone that you love them but is always tongue-tied and not very good at expressing yourselves? Just head over to ‘I Love Yoo!’. That alone should have conveyed your feelings across. I can give you more ideas on confessing your love, but this is not a a post on dating tips, but rather an article on food. So let’s put all all things romance aside for a little while, shall we?

I Love Yoo! is simply a shop serving You Tiao or also known as Chinese cruller,  porridge, soy milk, and tofu.

You Tiao are lightly salted and fried in pairs with the center attached so that the dough becomes puffy and crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. You tiao is best eaten immediately after it is fried because of its tendency to become tough and chewy if left out for too long. There’s an interesting story behind these crispy fried dough. You tiao is nicknamed you zha gui, or deep fried ghost, which stems from a story told long ago during about a public protest that took place during a rather heavy and serious part of Chinese history. The protest involved a famous and well-respected General, Yue Fei, who was appraised by the people for his loyalty towards the Song Dynasty and his Emperor during his time at war defending the kingdom from outer invasions, particularly the Jin Dynasty.

At that time, the Prime Minister, Qin Kuai, and his wife, Wang, grew jealous of him and formed a secret liaison with the invading northern tribe of the Jin Dynasty to frame Yue Fei under accusations of a crime and get him executed. Public civilians were frustrated by their inability to defend their General; so in reaction, a pancake vendor decidedly sculpted two miniature people out of dough, representing Qin Kuai and Madam Wang. He then began slashing at their figures with his dough cutter. The other vendor brought his deep-fry wok, twisted the two figures together into one piece of dough with their backs to each other, and threw them into the wok full of searing oil. While they were frying, the vendors called out for people to see. As a crowd of passer-byers formed to see the two ugly figures sizzling in the hot oil, they immediately called out, “Fried Kuai!”. Qin Kuai happened to pass this spectacle on his way from the imperial palace and was enraged with disbelief by the mutiny of his edible figure. In the vendors’ defense, two men stepped up and scooped the fried dough out of the oil to eat it. They exclaimed how delicious and crispy it was, which further infuriated Qin Kuai. Soon, their business was so busy that they had to design a simpler version of fried Kuai that was made of two strips of dough twisted together in order to represent Qin Kuai and his wife. The street food sensation quickly spread to other cities of China and eventually given the name, “you tiao.”

Porridge, you tiao, taufufa and soya milk from I Love Yoo! SkyAvenue. This simple meal costs less than RM15. Simply wholesome and comforting on the tummy and even a young child would be able to enjoy this meal immensely.

Dining at I Love Yoo! is pretty much fuss-free with it’s quick service. Highly recommended for those who are looking for a quick comfort on the tummy.

BMS Organics SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting

I’ll be honest with you. I don’t like veggies. I detest them, in fact. I grew up in a family who doesn’t really eat veggies, unless you consider French fries and tomato ketchup are veggies, that is. But all of these changed until the day I met I met my husband, who was raised by a vegetarian mother. She happens to be quite a good cook. Since then, I started to enjoy eating vegetarian food.

I don’t always have the opportunity to enjoy my mother-in-law’s cooking, and so once awhile I will look for restaurants that serves vegetarian dishes to satisfy my cravings for some light and refreshing vegetarian meals . It’s not easy to find restaurants that serves really nice vegetarian meals, but if you are looking for recommendations, here’s one; BMS Organics.

My family and I visited BMS Organics outlet in SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting and I’m pleased to say that
BMS Organics offers nothing but organic goodness. All the food in BMS Organics not only taste fabulous but highly nourishing as well. Some of their signatures includes Lei Cha and Herby Broth Pot with Multigrain Rice.

Here’s some of the dishes that we had at BMS Organics SkyAvenue: -The Organic Harvest with Passionfruit Dressing, BMS Soymilk Curry Laksa Handmade Noodles and Herby Broth Pot with Multigrain Rice.

Herby Broth Pot with Multigrain Rice (RM33.90). Basically this is Bak Kut Teh or Meat Bone Tea; the vegetarian version. It was served with a bowl of Multigrain Rice and soya sauce dip. There’s no meat whatsoever in it, of course. Instead, there’s just tofu, mushrooms, fuchook. Initially I thought it will taste rather overwhelming on the palate, but surprisingly it doesn’t have any strange herbal taste and I actually find it pleasantly addictive.

BMS Soymilk Curry Laksa Handmade Noodles (RM28.90). Initially I wasn’t really interested to give this a try as it contains soymilk. To be honest, I’m not a fan of soymilk,  but I’m glad I did give this a try. The curry laksa tasted fabulous. Rich, creamy and flavourful.

The Organic Harvest with Passionfruit Dressing (RM22.90)
. This bowl of salad is tangy and refreshing and if I were to have it my way, I’d definitely wouldn’t stop at just one bowl.

Overall, the dining experience in BMS Organics SkyAvenue is wonderful. The food are not only nutritious and refreshing, but delicious as well. They certainly did not compromise on the taste, I must say.

Highly recommended to those who want to watch what they eat, but wants to enjoy good tasting food at the same time as well.

Whether you are craving for toasts with half boiled eggs or a bubbly cup of Teh Tarik, PapaRich have it all. Their menu is not only limited to light bites but extended to Malaysian favourite dishes like Nasi Lemak and Nasi Ayam too.

PapaRich SkyAvenue. A lurk of choice for those who loves the authentic flavours of Malaysian old school kind of coffee shop.

Here’s some of the dishes that my family and I we had in PapaRich SkyAvenue during our most recent visit: Nasi Briyani with Fried Chicken& Sambal Prawns, Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken, Hainan Steamed Chicken Rice, Stevia White Coffee, 3 Layered Tea and Teh C Hot

Hainan Steamed Chicken Rice (RM19.90). Those who knows me well will know that Hainan Chicken Rice is my all time favourite Malaysian dish. The chicken were perfectly poached while the rice was perfectly greasy and fragrant. The Hainan Steamed Chicken Rice was served with chilli sauce, minced garlic sauce, dark soya sauce and a side of beansprouts.

Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken (RM21.90) is another one of those irresistibly wholesome meal at PapaRich. The rice was richly flavoured with coconut milk while the chicken was adeptly fried. Worth your calories, I must say.

Nasi Briyani with Chicken Curry and Prawn Sambal (RM29.90)is for those who prefers strong tasting food, where both the rice and the chicken were all spiced up sufficiently. The prawn sambal was a tad spicy to my palate, but nothing I can’t take.

We had 3 Layered Tea (RM13.90) and White Coffee Ice (RM8.90) to wash everything down with. The drinks was thick and rich, just the way we like it.

Me, enjoying my food

Overall, the dining experience at PapaRich SkyAvenue is excellent in terms of food and service. If you are looking for a taste of local delights that you usually enjoy in your favorite kopitiam or a mamak joint, PapaRich is your best bet.

Dal.komm Coffee, SkyAvenue Resorts World Genting

Fans of Korean dramas will most likely find Dal.komm heartwarmingly familar. Featured repeatedly in a well known Korean drama series ‘Decendants of The Sun’, Dal.komm Coffee definitely lives up to the expectation of a nice dating spot.

Offering irresitibly sweet drinks and desserts, Dal.komm Coffee will surely satisfy even the fussiest foodie. You may grab and go your coffees from Dal.komm Coffee, but I highly recommend dining in as the desserts are mostly good to be eaten immediately. Here’s my husband and I, enjoying our sweet stuff at Dal.Komm Coffee SkyAvenue.

We had Dal.komm Coffee summer offerings, Chocola’de series-Chocola’de shake, Honey Caramel Shibuya Toast and Strawberry Cruffin

Shibuya Honey Toast was satisfyingly thick. The toast was drizzled generously with whipped cream and caramel honey syrup. Those with sweet tooth will certainly appreciate this Shibuya Honey Toast.

Strawberry Cruffin was simply lovely. The cruffin was light, buttery and perfectly crusty while the sourish strawberry compote complements the cruffin and the cream topping really well.

I pretty much enjoyed my literally and figuratively sweet date with my husband during our visit and a revisit is definitely in order.

The newly opened Dal.komm Coffee is located at level 4 al-fresco area in SkyAvenue where the outlet is overlooking the fantastic view of the vast Genting Highlands sky. Definitely a wonderful place for a date with your loved ones.

Rendang Beef Rice has a homey taste to it where the rendang was richly flavoured with herbs and spices.

Grilled Chicken Masak Merah may not look so flattering, but trust me, it tasted extraordinary. The chicken was perfectly grilled and was good to have even on it’s own. The sauce wasn’t so spicy, so even those who couldn’t tolerate spiciness would be able to enjoy this dish.

Most of the things on the menu are available around the clock in RichDad, so if whether you wants light bites during dinner or heavy meal during supper, it will not be a problem. Just go ahead and order anything you want from there.

San Francisco Coffee SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting

I’m not much of a coffee lover. My blog’s name ‘Over A Cuppa Tea’ says it all. I’m positively a tea lover, but my husband is my direct opposite. He loves coffees to the moon and back, and I often found ourselves chilling over a cuppa or two in popular coffee joints around. One of his all time favourite cafe lurk is San Francisco Coffee.

San Francisco Coffee has plenty of franchises in Malaysia and recently they just opened another outlet in SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting. We didn’t let the opportunity to chill over a cuppa in the newly opened San Francisco Coffee at SkyAvenue slide, of course.

And here’s some yummies that we had in San Francisco Coffee SkyAvenue; some frappes, sandwiches and pasta.

If you want more than just coffees should you go shopping in SkyAvenue, San Francisco Coffee is quite a good place to grab a quick bite. San Francisco Coffee offers not only coffees to go but plenty of gourmet sandwiches and warm pasta too.

You may dine in at San Francisco Coffee, or just grab and go, but I highly recommend dining in, especially if the weather is sunny as the outlet is located at al-fresco area with great view of the Genting Highlands sky.

Starbucks Reserve SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting

My family and I had an opportunity to enjoy a cuppa in Starbucks Reserve SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting recently and I must say that I’m quite inpressed with what they have to offer.
So, what’s so special, you ask? Starbucks is always Starbucks and it’s a yet another one of those grab and go coffee joint, right? Wrong. The Starbucks Reserve is more than just the usual grab and go coffee place. It is actually a place that preserve coffee culture and offers a much higher end coffee experience as Starbucks Reserve coffee beans often come from remote and rugged places, with limited harvests from lots as small as a family backyard.

The coffees in Starbucks Reserve are individually ground and brewed by the cup just for you, so if you are looking for a cup of coffee that you can customize to your liking, Starbucks Reserve is the place to go.

Each bags of coffee beans over here are extremely limited and can often last only a matter of weeks in Starbucks Reserve. And here’s Premium Nicaragua La Roca Coffee beans from Starbucks Reserve SkyAvenue.

Nicaragua La Roca Coffee from Starbucks Reserve, specially brewed for us by our Coffee Master. The Nicaragua La Roca offers medium body and acidity with flowery scent and slightly fruity taste. As this coffee leans over more to the bitter and acidic side, I believe it will pair well with sweet cookies and cakes.

I’m not an expert coffee drinker enough to recommend you any of those exclusive coffees here at Starbucks Reserve, but if you need any help in customizing a cuppa, just ask your Coffee Master for recommendations. They will be most pleased to help you out in your coffee selections.

Starbucks Reserve is located at T2B-31, Level 3, SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting.

Here’s sharing some of the things that they had to offer for lunch/dinner:

Chef Style Marinated on Pegaga and Ulam Raja Salad, Mango Sambal and Jamaican Plum Sauce. This is basically the Thai mango salad. But instead of having the full flavour of Thai mango salad that we are used to, this version of mango salad is a bit tone down on the taste and served with plump and juicy scallops. There are no overwhelming spiciness with a mere slight tanginess. Great for those who can’t tolerate spicy food.

Malay Style Chicken Soup-with a combination of Malay spices and minced chicken. Mildly flavoured, the soup is somewhat comforting on the tummy.

4 fine traditional Malay dishes for our gastronomic pleasure: Braised King Prawns in Cumin andCoriander Gravy, Ayam Masak Lemak Nangka, Rendang Daging and Pucuk Paku Goreng Cili.

Udang Masala/Braised King Prawns in Cumin-Coriander Gravy. Similar to the appetizer and the soup, this dish is not heavily flavoured too. Great to go on it’s own or a plate of piping hot rice.

Ayam Masak Lemak Nangka is one of my favourite dish over here. The spiciness is just right for me and I had a few helpings of this with my plate of Briyani rice.

Rendang Daging was strongly flavoured and the meat was really tender. Another one of my favourite that day.

Pucuk Paku Goreng Cili. I did not manage to have a taste of this as it was gone within minutes when it was placed on the table, so I guess this was good as well.

Nasi Briyani was served to be paired with all of the dishes served. We also had a choice of plain white rice to go with all the traditional Malay dishes.

Warm Black Glutinuos Rice with Coconut, Palm Sugar and Almond Flakes. No course meal would be complete without dessert. And here’s a sweet ending to our meal; Warm Black Glutinuos Rice with Coconut, Palm Sugar and Almond Flakes. I was abit reluctant to have a taste of this at first as I’m not a huge fan of sweet stuff, but I’m glad I gave it a try as this was not cloyingly sweet and acceptable to my palate.

Bunga Emas Restaurant promises to ensconce you in an atmosphere every bit as sumptuous as your exquisite meal. With ornate, traditional décor and a warm, soothing ambiance, your sense of aesthetics will be as satiated as your taste buds. For a truly intimate experience, the restaurant also offers private rooms designed to let you commune with regal, Malay dining traditions.
