Are you a big fan of ballet or opera performance? Well, I’m a huge fan, and my all time favourite would be The Swan Lake. Went to a performance once when I was a little girl and has been longing to go to another one since. I guess right now I’m in luck. A friend has highlighted to me that there will be a huge ballet performance in town about star crossed lovers, a mad inventor and a life sized doll.
Coppelia, a romantic comedy that will enchant the hearts of the young and old, will be staged right here in the Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur this 6 & 7, July 2013.
Essentially, Coppelia revolves around Franz and Swanhilda as two promised lovers. Coppelia is the mannequin creation of Dr. Coppelius’s mystical workshop.
She sits on the balcony everyday and Franz becomes enchanted by her beauty, much to Swanhilda’s dismay.
A cacophony of mischief takes place in the mystical workshop when Swanhilda and her friends sneak into the workshop, Franz climbs through the window and Dr Coppelius returns. Surprises unfold and true love is united.
Interesting story no? Well, I’m not really familiar with the story, but I thought the performance ought to be interesting with such a light-hearted storyline.
