It’s weekend again, folks, and I’m almost delirious with fever. It must be the rain I or the weather must have disagreed with me, or my bloody novel is getting into my system. I had wanted to write about something else, like cursing Shah Rukh Khan for not coming to take the bloody Datukship award, etc etc ( I may be write about it later), but this bloody song keep replaying in my brain, and I couldn’t get it out of my system, so I guess, I’ll just dump it over here in my blog page and share with you guys, maybe then I’ll be able to get rid of this song from my poor twisted brain.
When I was younger, I always wanted to play this song on a huge grand piano, but I couldn’t, because my genes made me musically illiterate. What’s more, my parents did not encourage me to be any sort of artists(writer included), because they wanted me to grow up to be a scientists. However, I did not let my family get in the ways of my true calling, as I have always been the rebellious one, I am what i am today because I’m one of a huge rebel in my family.
But, I enjoyed listening to this song, among many others very much during my growing up years. It’s Blue Danube, composed by Johann Strauss Jr. or some known him as Johann Strauss II and I did not know much about this feller until this very day. He was actually a very prolific musician, and if I could write like he could composed, I am probably a millionaire by now, and sunbathing until my skin became like BBQ chicken wings somewhere in Tahiti or Hawaii.
Here are the music composition that Johann Strauss Jr. put together, in case you guys are interested in his works and wanted to search for more in youtube.

And here comes the history of Mr. Johann Strauss Jr:
Johann Strauss Sr., the most popular and successful conductor and composer of dance music of his time, discouraged his son’s musical ambitions. Despite these objections, Johann Jr. studied with Joseph Dreschler, and, at age 19, conducted a program which included his own compositions, as well as his father’s.
He earned the title “The Waltz King” because of his prolific output and frequent international tours with his own orchestra, which usually numbered about twenty-six. He was also an excellent self-promoter.

Cleffairy: Let the music heal your soul, and never let anything gets in the way of your ambitions. You can achieve higher than the sky only if you believed in yourself.
PS: By the time I finished writing this entry, Blue Danube kinda flew out of my head, so the ‘dumping therapy’ did work… or not, because now Fur Elise by Beethoven is invading! And minuet too! Have mercy on me, please! It’s going to be a hell of a weekend with my fever. I bet those dead composers are having a real kick at this!(sigh, if only I’m not feeling so delirious, I would have wrote about the story of Fur Elise/Fur Elize-rather sad story behind the song, really)
🙁

I’m going to Savannah Hill this afternoon ~ going back on Monday!

Zara, lol, yeah, I love music, but I found only soft and relaxing music agrees with me. Loud, banging, horrible musics kids these days tend to listen(OMG, I sound so old) doesn’t really sit well with me, and never fail to give me headache. Have a safe trip to Savannah Hill, okay? Please do enjoy yourself and take a lot of pictures. Anyway, you don’t sound pathetic, dear. There’s nothing pathetic about being in love and out of love. All is fair in love and war. 😀 You may be single now, that’s simply because you haven’t met Mr. Right yet. Someone out there is waiting for you, you just haven’t find him yet. 😀
Garfield, erm… really sohai la, but then again, the only thing that differentiate a genius and a crazy feller is just their success.
ktx… ohh, will be leaving so soon? Eh, you take care, k? Yups, J. Strauss Jr’s music is good stuff, but I haven’t been listening to classics for quite some time… too lazy to find the cds or surf youtube. LOL.
I cant be reading all these.. zzzzz
LOL… sorry Arc, that was my fever writing that entry. I really need to get the song out of my head. It’s making me dizzy… 😛 Dun read those, but do listen to the song, though… 😛
Johan Strauss and his son, Johan Strauss Jr, their life is a mess….
but anyway, I do enjoy Johan Strauss Jr.’s musics a lot since i was form 3 last time.
ohh.. btw what kind of songs are they? Are they orchestra pieces or what? And where can I get those songs? XD
Aiya, no hip hop songs or raggae song? My favourite leh! Ha Ha…..
Garfield, I think a lot of famous people’s life is in a mess…. 😛
Arc… lol… it’s classic musics, and yeah, you can say they are orchestra piece…. you can find these on youtube. 😛
Pete…. aiyohh… hip hop ah? I cannot understand much about hip hip, so hardly listen to any funky songs…
I used to dance to this song in my younger days. Ooo…how I wish I could turn back time! Those were the days…
Heck yeah… rmbered those days I learn music… strauss, tchaikowsky… great waltzes… but I think I gave it all back.. :(. All I know now is C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C.. 🙂
Suituapui lol…. these days those graceful waltz are no more… I wanted to learn but no ppl wanna teach… ahahaha… only those neck breaking dances are ‘in thing’ these days. *shakes head* no taste la, kids these days…. (omg, I sounded so old!)
Kevin… yoz, at least you got learn all those things, you know? My mom and dad make me do maths whole damn day, and nothing good come out of it… ahahaha…(failed add maths for my SPM… LOL)… at least you got learn those…. I can’t even play Mary Had A Little lamb and Do Re Mi from Sound of Music properly! 🙁 SO PATHETIC!
i didnt know that you’re into orchestral music. for me, they’re good for sleeping…heheheh. im more into jazz. go try and check out these artistes……chris botti (instrumental jazz, trumpet), laura fygi, joanna wang, eriko ishihara (female jazz singers), four play, spyro gyra…..they are just great instrumental bands.
i listen to jazz but plays rock in my band…..my brains are just crappy 🙂
aiyo.. i half past six only.. :(.
That one all learn from my church buddies… when we jam then those classical lot will start lecturing on those stuff.. but I really love waltz.. beautiful music… classical is not really my cup of tea but at one time I quite like the Richard Keladiman…
Calvin…. jazz? You’re into Jazz? I tot you’re a rocker… with drums and all. LOL… I’ll check it out when I can and tell you what I think about it. LOL. And yea, I am into orchestral music since I was still a little girl. I find it soothing and inspiring at the same time. LOL.
Kevin… at least you know how to play a bit. I am hopeless in that, and sometimes, i really wish my mum and dad made me learn back then(but no, they made me study maths all the time…). LOL… yeah, waltz very nice, soothing and graceful, so unlike music these days, dunno what kind of thing oso… 🙁 Ohh, LOL… Richard Keladiman… I listened to him to when i was younger. My dad brought some Richard Clayderman’s CD for my birthday… I like his ‘Yesterday’ and ‘ Ballad por Adeline’. LMAO. KELADIMAN… 😛 For a while i thought some politician in Malaysia again. *shakes head* My head polluted liao.
PS: Aunt Iris also knows how to play piano! Til gred 7! She told me her dad made her learn when she was younger.
Great to see a fellow classical lover.
I didn’t hear all song but usually I hear mozart, bach, and baroque era composer.
My favourite:
Air on the G string by bach
Canon by palchelbel
In the hall of the mountain king
and a few others that I forgot the name. I also like the 02jam version of classical such as brahm, and v3.
As for oldies, a lot of them but I usually don’t remember the name only the tunes.
Perhaps I will upload them to my server for you guys to hear.
Ecam, thank you for visiting and commenting on my articles. I really appreciate it. i usually listen to orchestral music when I write, it gives me some kick. Oldies… hmm… oldies are my favourite, very nostalgic, reminds me of my growing up years where music are nice and soothing instead of loud and migraine inviting!
And I notice that you’re using Xubuntu for your server. Just to let you know, I’m and end user Ubuntu user too.
I love this post on Strauss, it’s awesome! The Blue Danube is such a beautiful piece, ain’t it? I remember you used to love this song from like, waaaaay back then, hehe 😉
Gosh, the list you put up… now THAT’s what I call a comprehensive list! I didn’t even know such a detailed and loooong list could be put into existence 😀 *two thumbs up, by the way*
P/S. Pauline (i.e. Pau) here, if you couldn’t tell who I was from the nickname *grins*
