Attractions in Shah Alam: Perpustakaan Raja Tun Uda

I am a bit of a bookworm and if you really want to impress me, one way to go about it is through books. Being a head librarian when I was in school, I used to practically live in the library. Sadly enough, I stopped going to the library once my son was born more than a decade back. Why? Well, the library near home wasn’t exactly children friendly and I have been having such an impression since then.

But I recently had the opportunity to visit Raja Tun Uda Library (PPAS).
Unlike the community library near home, this library is well-equipped
with user-friendly infrastructure for the convenience and convenience of library visitors.

The library is a heaven for bookworms like me. They have aisle of books plenty of both new and classic titles from various genres.

Comfy discussion area aplenty over here.

Internet facilities are free of charge, so visitors can just head over and use them.

Interactive area for both adults and children.

3D Cinema showing plenty of educational movies is available at minimal charge.

6D theatre experience is a must try if you visit this library.

Training rooms spotted. The rooms are used to conduct all sorts of classes daily.

Visiting the library is definitely an eye opening experience. There’s more to this library than just books. The infrastructures are designed to enrich and empower those who frequent the place and it’s definitely something I wouldn’t mind visiting everyday.

Attractions in Shah Alam: Selangor Islamic Arts Garden Complex

One of the must visit place if you’re ever in Shah Alam is the Selangor Islamic Arts Garden Complex.

The Selangor Islamic Arts Garden Complex was built in the 1990s to showcase Islamic arts. The complex is managed by Restu Foundation (Yayasan Restu), the first foundation in Malaysia to produce hand written and illuminated manuscripts of the Holy Quran.

The complex comprises three permanent museum galleries which are open to the public.

I managed to visit 3 galleries during my visit:

*Rehlah Nabawiyah or The Journey of Prophet Muhammad PBUH

*Indoor Atrium Garden

*Various exhibitions and calligraphy arts.

Rehlah Nabawiyah or The Journey of Prophet Muhammad SAW

This exhibition uses the latest techniques such as holograms, virtual technology and projection mapping to describe the events of the establishment of Islam.

One of the highlights for Muslim visitors must be the replica of the residence of Prophet Muhammad based on the writings of his companions.

Inside this humble dwelling you can appreciate the simple and frugal lifestyle experienced by the Prophet.

To say that this gallery is interesting is a understatement. It’s like walking through a time tunnel back into the era Prophet Muhammad SAW lives.

Indoor Atrium Garden

Visitors can see a soothing scene of an indoor garden at this section of the gallery.

Selangor Islamic Arts Garden Complex various exhibitions and calligraphy arts.

This gallery displays the Quran manuscripts and Islamic calligraphy exhibits.

Some of these texts have been beautifully inscribed and decorated by Malaysian calligraphers and artists .

You may also get your name written in calligraphy over here.

It was really interesting and unique.

Complex is a must visit if you like all things arts and culture.

Opening Soon in Resorts World Genting: Train to Busan Horror House

Here’s sharing a fantastic news for thrill seekers and Adrenaline addict; the Train To Busan Horror House experience at Resorts World Genting is about to open its doors to fans of the movie and fans of scare experiences in Malaysia and the region. The first-of-its-kind in the world, the Horror House launches on 31 October 2019, bringing the world of the blockbuster Korean movie to life in a unique and thrilling way. This event is brought to you by Resorts World Genting and AirAsia as co-presenter.

“This isn’t the first Halloween spectacular that we’ve created at Resorts World Genting, but I believe it is certainly the best,” says Roger Ong, Assistant Vice President of Entertainment and Events for Resorts World Genting.

“As the leader of entertainment experiences in Malaysia and the region, we have always tried to push the boundaries of what we can offer our customers. Which is why we have chosen Train To Busan, since something familiar and recognisable for our audience, and which is why we have chosen to work with Vividthree, a market-leading producer to bring the blockbuster movie to life. We are thankful that Vividthree immediately signed on to this project to realize this fantastic frightening Horror House.”

A collaboration with Vividthree, a digital content production powerhouse from Singapore, the Train to Busan Horror House experience is a superlative result of what location-based entertainment technology can achieve. Drawing from Vividthree’s feature film experience – which include the Singaporean box-office hit trilogy Ah Boys To Men and the Hollywood animated movie Robotropolis – Vividthree has managed to create a compelling horror experience that it considers its crown jewel. How was it made? The production team from Vividthree takes us behind the scenes and show how the magic of the Horror House is created.

Partnering with the Train to Busan IP owner, South Korea’s Content Panda, the Horror House experience utilizes the latest in digital and virtual reality technology to create a scary experience that has to be experienced to be believed. No expense was spared in the creation of the Horror House, which is faithful to the movie and also expands on its plotline.
The team at Vividthree first began by watching the movie – which is one of the highest-grossing South Korean movies ever – over and over, identifying areas and scenes that were suitable to expanded and translated into a physical experience. This, according to Vividthree, was a huge challenge as the team wanted to be faithful to the motivations of the characters but also allow for the new possibilities.

“We asked ourselves: what we would do if we were one of those ordinary, everyday Koreans that somehow got caught up in a zombie apocalypse? What would have happened if we made a different choice in those scenarios, compared to what was done by the movie’s characters,” says Jed Mok, Chief Executive Officer for Vividthree. “It was really fun to brainstorm over what could be done and how we could expand the universe. But it was also a huge challenge, as working with a successful IP like Train to Busan is a daunting task, not least because there are so many fans around the world that love the movie.”

The team settled on setting the Horror House in the 48 hours that ensue after the finale of the movie, asking the questions: what else was happening in Seoul, Daejeong and Busan, and what could have happened to the remaining survivors? Using hints left by the director in the movie, over 50 concepts were refined into the final product, brought to life through a mixture of live actors, digital technology, brand new videos and immersive soundscapes. Through close consultation with Content Panda, the universe of the movie has been dramatically and faithfully expanded; fans of the movie can expect to spot many Train To Busan original movie experience, while still offering a frightful time for those unfamiliar with the film.

“The Train to Busan Horror House experience is broken up into several parts, each with a unique offering inspired by the movie,” explained Roger. “When visitors first set foot into the experience, they will teleported to a busy, neon-lit street in Seoul, where some of the best Korean street food will be available. After buying a train ticket, they will then enter into a ravaged train station, centred on a wrecked train that crashes through the second level of the station, pining innocent passengers and hungry zombies under the rubble. The visitors will then get to walk through two Horror Houses. The first is made up of retail shops in the ruined Daejeong Train Station, and the second is in the abandoned train itself. But beware, you won’t be alone! After the Horror Houses, visitors can then move to the Base Camp area to engage in action-packed activities either as a survivor or zombie. Every different zone offers a different level of fun and scares, and each one will be fantastic in its own way.”

Creating the Horror HouseThe Horror House will be heightened with a cast of 50 actors and scare point operators, who were meticulously selected for necessary physical attributes and acting skills. Working in shifts, the acting cast – who are all Malaysian – will play the role of zombies and survivors in shifts, bringing the storyline crafted by Vividthree to life. The attention to detail going into the cast and costuming is immense; lead by an award-winning Malaysian artiste, the makeup for individual actor takes up to 2 hours to complete, while the costumes have been styled specifically to be recognisable to fans of the movie.

The preparation for the Train to Busan Horror House took months to complete, covering art direction, set design, prop theming and technical considerations that bring the world to life. Each aspect of the experience came with its own challenges, and the team at Vividthree has been careful to accurately capture the atmosphere of the movie, using custom audio soundscapes and video assets to heighten realism. The haunting mirror maze, for example, draws inspiration from the 2008 movie Mirrors and the final fight sequence of Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon, creating a disorienting room full of broken reflective surfaces and creepy mannequins. The VR zombie shooting game – available at the Base Camp area – takes things further by allowing guests to take on the role of Korean army soldiers, defending the Busan quarantine zone from an army of ravenous zombies as seen in the finale of the movie.

“I’m astounded by the amount of detail and attention that has been poured into the Train to Busan Horror House. This is the result when Resorts World Genting works with the best and brightest in the industry,” says Roger Ong. “It’s been a fascinating journey, seeing how this experience has evolved from inspiration to concept to storyboard to the actual Horror House. We are incredibly pleased to open our doors and invite you inside to become part of the movie. The Train to Busan Horror House checks all the boxes of what we strive to achieve at Resorts World Genting – it is unique, it is cutting-edge, and it showcases how we are using Virtual Reality to push the envelope of entertainment. We also see this as an opportunity to promote South Korea itself, by working with brands to bring the true soul of Seoul into the experience. I am confident that we have achieved our goal of scaring the pants off our guests. And I promise that this is the beginning of great things as we aim to create even more dynamic experiences in the years to come.”

The Train To Busan Horror House experience will be accepting passengers from 31 October 2019 to 1 January 2020, running from 12 noon to 10pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 1 November to 1 December 2019, and daily from 2 December 2019 to 1 January 2020. The Streets of Seoul runs from 10am to 10pm over the same time period. Tickets to the Horror House are priced at RM90 for regular admission (RM80 for Genting Rewards Club members). A combo Horror House single admission and Skytropolis Preview Pass is available at RM128, and guests looking at skip the queue can opt for an additional Express Pass at RM30. Beau.tea by Safi Review

If you’ve been following me on my social media, you’d probably remember that I complained about suffering from severe sunburns after my snorkeling trip to Perhentian Island. Despite of taking precautions by wearing rashguards that covers most parts of my body and wearing SPF50 sunscreens during my snorkeling trip,I still suffered from nasty sunburn regardless. It was really nasty, especially my face. My skin not only lost it’s usual healthy glow but got terribly sensitive, itchy and flaky as well. The dead skin on my face, especially the T-zone area kept falling off and I practically feel like a snake changing it’s skin. It’s really ugly and I had no idea on how to fix the skin problems, as the skin was terribly sensitive and my usual facial cleanser actually irritates the sunburns area further.

I was at wit’s end and when I was introduced to Beau.tea by Safi, I thought I’d give it a try. Considering that my teenage son is using another range of Safi cleansers and toner to battle his acne problems and was really gentle on his skin, I was hoping that this Beau.ty by Safi would be as gentle on my skin as well.

The Beau.tea by Safi comes in 4 variants: Apricot Tea, Revitalising Face Scrub, Green Tea&Neem, Anti Acne Gel Cleanser, Black Tea&Black Orchid, Detox Cream Cleanser and White Tea& Damask Rose, Hydrating Gel Cleanser. Beau.tea by Safi is derived from an invigorating selection of premium tea extracts and a combination of the finest natural ingredients formulated to combat the negative effects from pollution, stress and cosmetics with Anti PM 2.5 benefits for healthy skin.

Beau.tea by Safi-Apricot Tea, Revitalising Face Scrub. I was really impressed when I used this for the first time. The apricot scent is positively inviting. This revitalising scrub deeply cleanse, unclog pores and exfoliates without drying out my skin. It helps to remove all those flaky skin that’s cluttering my T-zone effectively without irritating my skin. The Beau.tea by Safi-Apricot Tea, Revitalising Face Scrub is Formulated with a blend of Apricot & White Tea extract. It’s rich in antioxidants and helps restore smooth skin texture for brighter and radiant skin. It’s best paired with other Beau.tea by Safi Cleansers.

Beau.tea by Safi- Green Tea&Neem, Anti Acne Gel Cleanser. I have no acne issues so most of the time, my son uses this instead. This gentle and soap-free gel cleanser helps to gently removes impurities and excess oil. Formulated with the precious blend of Green Tea & Neem leaf extracts, the cleanser helps to soothes and shield skin against external aggressors and acne breakouts, while regulating sebum to help minimize the appearance of scars. Highly recommended for those who suffered breakouts often. It is gentle enough for teenagers to use frequently as well.

Beau.tea by Safi- Black Tea&Black Orchid, Detox Cream Cleanser. This gentle, fragrance free Amino Acid cream cleanser deeply cleanse and remove impurities. Formulated with the precious blend of Black Tea & Black Orchid extracts helps to detox the skin, while keeping skin healthy and protected from premature aging. Now, I just hit my mid thirties this year and it’s definitely something that I need to keep my youthful good looks.

Beau.ty by Safi- White Tea& Damask Rose, Hydrating Gel Cleanser. This gentle and soap-free gel cleanser deeply cleanses clogged up pores and remove impurities. Formulated with the precious blend of White Tea & Damask Rose that is rich in antioxidants to balances skin’s moisture levels, hydrates and reduces the size of pores. Having dry skin type, I like this one the most among other Beau.ty by Safi cleansers. It instantly hydrate my skin upon usage.

Beau.ty by Safi is sold in most major supermarket, pharmacy and online shopping malls.

So, do I recommend these Beau.tea by Safi range of facial cleansers? Yes, definitely. You can actually see visible improvements after about two weeks usage, and the best part? It retails at a very reasonable price, so if you are looking for skincare items without blowing up your savings, this is what you might want to consider.

Fun Under The Stars at Starlight Carnival, Resorts World Genting

I gotta feeling, that tonight’s gonna be a good, good, good, good, good night! I gotta feeling, that tonight’s gonna be a good, good, good, good, good night!

Admit it. You didn’t read that. You sang that, didn’t you? Well, this song is a bit of a classic by now and I can hardly claim myself a Black Eyed Peas fangirl but you got to admit, their songs are kinda catchy and gives quite an energetic vibe. Frankly speaking, apart from being an Adrenaline junkie and an endorphin addict, I’m a huge fan of all things positive energy. They charged me up in an instant and makes me feel so good, regardless of how bad my day is.

Anyway, having heard that Resorts World Genting is hosting Starlight Carnival; an open air carnival that promises nothing but delicious food, good music and pure unadulterated fun, knew I had to check it out.

Starlight Carnival takes place at the picturesque Century Lake Park every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 October to 2 November 2019. It features four key elements – music, movies, food and games all under one roof.

Date night with the boy. Watching movie, playing games and dancing all night long under the stars at Resorts World Genting Starlight Carnival.

The open-air ‘Movie Under The Stars’ is definitely a new experience for us. Movie titles includes A Star is Born, Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia, Chicago, and Hairspray

I think watching movies in the open air under the stars while being embraced by the cold weather in Resorts World Genting is really refreshing in comparison to the techy cinema. Personally, I love the experience more than the cinema as it’s unrestrictive. Movie goers can sing along and dance to the movie’s soundtrack if they want and nobody will say anything about it as it’s all about fun and enjoying the moment under the open air. You also indulge n carnival food as you enjoy the movies. Perfect place to spend a movie night for families with kids, I must say.

Gourmet food trucks and eateries are scattered across the Carnival. While the food trucks serves up a variety of snacks, some new additions to Resorts World Genting will also be featured.

Harry Ramsden brings London’s beloved fish and chips to Malaysia, while the taste of Italy in the forms of pizzas, pastas and more arrives in hearty servings at the Il Lago kiosk. Cosmic Café on the other hand, will offer local favourites like nasi ayam and mee bakso.

Sjora truck is must visit if you’d like some refreshing mango-based drinks.

And oh, Ice Cream too.

And what’s a carnival without carnival games? The Carnival Game Zone features plenty of fun and challenging games like shooting hoops, spinning the wheel of fortune at, ball tossing, fishing for ducks and many more.

Fishing for ducks game

Spinning the wheel game

I’m not good at these games, but I had so much fun playing the games as I try to win some fancy prizes.

I heard that during its final weekend, the Starlight Carnival will be given a scary season makeover to commemorate the Halloween Weekend. I was told that we can expect the same fantastic combo of film, food, fiesta and fun as before, but with a new spooky theme as the Starlight Carnival embraces Halloween with jack-o’-lanterns, zombies, cobwebs and all the other elements of a truly scary Halloween evening, so I’m thinking of going again this Halloween.

Anybody wanna join me the next round? Info for the carnival as below:

The Starlight Carnival takes place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 October to 2 November 2019.

The Halloween Weekend will run from 31 October to 2 November 2019, with the special event Starlight Carnival presents Zouk Live! On 2 November 2019.

Tickets are priced at RM20 for General Admission with a RM4 processing fee, while children below 12 years old enter free of charge.

Special hotel packages are also available, combining entrance tickets to the Starlight Carnival with 2D1N stays at First World Hotel (RM246 nett, up to 2 pax) or Theme Park Hotel (RM628 nett, up to 4 pax). For more information, visit www.rwgenting.com or call +603 2718 1118.

SKMEI 1250 Waterproof Smartwatch Review

I’m not a huge fan of digital watches. Personally, I like those delicate bracelet types of watch that looks like some expensively exquisite jewelries when I put them on, but my husband got me a smartwatch a few months back as a gift. The watch is SKMEI 1250. Have you heard of the brand SKMEI? I’m not sure if you have, but SKMEI is a watch brand that originates from China. SKMEI is not a very famous brand, but it offers a surprisingly wide range of timepieces in their collection like digital watch, sports watch, double watch,Quartz watch and Smartwatch.

What I’ll be sharing with you about is the SKMEI 1250. It’s a bit huge for my wrist but since is a gift from my husband and I didn’t want to make him feel unappreciated, I thought I’d just wear it for a couple of days and put it aside, but I ended up liking it and grew quite attached to it and so, I thought I’d share with you about it.

SKMEI 1250 has a all round dial design and comes in 3 colour variants; Red Gold, Brown gold and all black. It has 22mm wide buckle type plastic belt. My personal opinion: The design is decent. It looks pretty cool somewhat premium. The material used in the SKMEI 1250 is all plastic but it’s quite good quality. The clasp of the watch is made from stainless steel. The SKMEI 1250 smartwatch offers features as below:

*Time

What I like about this watch is that it’s waterproof and surprisingly durable. I’ve worn the watch during my snorkeling trip in Perhentian Island an it was not only submerged for hours but I accidentally hit the watch against a rock too and it still works perfectly fine after that, so I suppose th watch can withstand rugged usage a well.

I have yet to go diving with this watch, so I can’t really tell you how much pressure this watch can withstand, but I’ll be sure to update when I finally do.

Unlike other smartwatches that I’m familiar with, this watch runs on normal watch batteries and there’s no need to charge the watch daily or after certain hours of usage. SKMEI claims that the battery can last up to 45days but I’ve used the watch for more than 90 days and it’s still working accurately as of writing, so I’m guessing that the battery life is way longer than just 45 days.

The SKMEI 1250 has an application support for both Android and Apple devices that enables you to sync your step counts and take photo remotely, just like any other regular smartwatches. The watch will also give a beep when there’s incoming call or messages. The stepcounter of this watch is pretty accurate and I’d never go without the watch during my cardio dance session.

The only disadvantages of SKMEI 1250 is that it doesn’t have sleep monitor or a heart rate monitor. But for a smartwatch that’s under RM40, I think SKMEI 1250 performs really well and it kinda surpassed my initial expectations.

So, will I recommend this watch? Well, yes, definitely recommended, especially for those who loves watersports and have an active lifestyles.
