Malaysia is well known for being a developed country that offers not only cultural diversity to tourists and travelers alike but also unique modern architecture that’s often described as the wow factor. Among the well known modern architectural icons in Malaysia is it’s majestic twin skycrapers located in the heart of it’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur; the Petronas Twin Towers.

We have seen and heard stories on how beautiful and modern Malaysia is, but we know very little about those who works behind the scene and actually ‘built’ and ‘powered up’ the nation throughout it’s developing years.There are countless of individuals and companies who contribute to literally ‘build up the buildings’ in Malaysia, but here’s one I recently discovered that’s been contributing alot but remains mostly invisible; Jasa Kita Berhad.

Anyway, I had this opportunity to check out Metabo’s products during Jasa Kita’s business networking session in Marriott Putrajaya recently and I thought the products that has been brought in by Jasa Kita Berhad are highly impressive.

Metabo offers an extensive range of professional tools and accessories that can be used in various industry, mainly woodwork and construction and here’s getting my hands on some of the tools.

Upon inspection, I pleasantly discovered that the tools are reasonably mobile and light. While these tools are for professionals, they are easy enough for end users to use, so if you want one of this for your DIY home improvements thingie, go ahead and grab one or two. Personally, I think this would be a useful addition for the toolbox at home.

Happier and Healthier Skin with Neutrogena

Keeping my skin hydrated, smooth and supple is a daily struggle and almost a mission impossible as I have dry skin type. On top of that, despite of almost never seen without makeups or in my jeans during my professional hours, I usually moonlight as a Lara Croft wannabe on weekends, galivanting around doing extreme outdoor stuffs. More often than not, I will be exposed under the sun or soaked in some weird lake or waterfall pool somewhere.

The description me is not so ladylike, no? Well I suppose it is not very ladylike at all, but deep down, I’m just like any other vain women out there who is vain enough to dress up just so that I could admire my own reflection whenever I passed by any mirror at the mall or something. Yes. I’m a typical woman that way.

Like most women, I have vanity concerns. While most women my age have concerns about getting their ideal body weight, I have concerns about my skin instead as I’m an outdoor person and I’m exposed to all sorts of skin hazards all the time.

As mentioned earlier, I have dry skin type and my concern is keeping my skin healthy and hydrated. I’ve tried plenty of skincare products but they are not exactly effective, and therefore when I was introduced to Neutrogena range of products, I was a tad skeptical. Neutrogena Deep Clean Hydrating Cleansing Oil To Foam. Neutrogena has specially formulated this Deep Clean Cleansing Oil To Foam that provides effective cleansing for busy women like me. It is basically a dual cleansing product that effectively removes makeup on your face, and by gently massaging it, it transforms into foam to remove any leftover impurities that’s stuck on your face. I was quite surprised when I first tried this product. The cleansing oil acts like a magnet, where it draws out all makeup and dirt on my face. I sometimes cut myself shaving but with this, no cutting injuries is involved. Great to be taken for travels too, so this is going to be my best friend for a long time.

Easy Skincare Regime for Teens with Safi Balqis Oxywhite

I’m not sure if other parents have issues with their teens who are hitting puberty, but I certainly do with my teenage son. Delicious Thai Food at Streat Thai, Jaya One Petaling Jaya

Those who knows me personally, would know that I’m a huge fans of Lakorns. If you are not familar with that term, Lakorn is actually Thai dramas. Unlike Malay dramas in Malaysia, Thai dramas are pretty much unpredictable with loads of plot twists and the main characters are not always the typically good person you’d love. They can be scheming evil or nasty to boot. In my humble opinion, Lakorns are very refreshing. Apart from interesting stories, Lakorns usually features the Thai culture, interesting places in Thailand and of course, don’t get me started on the food that’s featured subtly in those Lakorns. They are simply mouthwatering, making me wish that I could visit Thailand and eat those food immediately, but alas, those are just forlorn wishes as time and work commitment does not allow me to travel to Thailand at whim, even if it is just a couple of hours away via flight.

Lucky me though, Malaysia is a country that’s full of cultural diversity and we have varieties of restaurants featuring foreign food in just about all corners of Malaysia. Thai restaurants are among those that flourishes well in Malaysia’s food industry.

One of the prominent one I’ve patronized recently is Streat Thai. Located at Jaya One shopping Mall in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, this restaurant offers authentic Thai street food dining.

The concept is similar to a food court, with different stalls offering different kind of food, but everything is actually under the same roof. Each stall is managed by a Thai chef specialized in the stall’s theme.

Delicious Thai Food at Streat Thai, Petaling Jaya

There’s plenty of delicious Thai delicacies on their menu, but during the most recent visit with my family and friends, we tried their bestsellers and chef’s recommended dishes.

Deep Fried Fish with Fish Sauce (RM42.90-Red Tilapia, RM56.90 Seabass, RM69.90-Snapper). Ours was Red Tilapia. The fish was fresh, meaty and adeptly fried. I’m not really a huge fan of fishes as the bones usually turns me off but this suits my palate very well. The fish flesh was naturally sweet and rather ‘fluffy’. There’s mango salad on the side, making the entire dish a perfect companion for a plate of piping hot rice.

Pineapple Fried Rice (RM9.90). This plate of pineapple fried rice contains a myriad of spices and a spoonful of this will have you begging for more.

Pandan Chicken (RM16.90). The pandan chicken was rich in flavour. Great on it’s own as an appetizer, but if you want to have these with rice, why not, then?

Streat Thai Fried Chicken Wings (RM17.90). This dish is one of the diners’ favourite here in Streat Thai. After sampling one of it, I knew why it one of the all time bestseller in the restaurant. The chicken wings was crispy on the outside and flavourful and juicy on the inside. It is rather addictive. Great as an appetizer or as a companion to a plate of piping hot rice.

Tomyam Creamy Soup with Seafood (RM12.40-S, RM23.90-M, RM37.90-L). I made it a habit of not leaving a Thai restaurant without having a taste of their signature Tomyam soup. We had this Tomyam Creamy Soup with Seafood and I must say that it was marvellous and tantalizing on the palate. Unlike the clear soup variant of Tomyam, this version is rather creamy and rich. Somtam/Papaya Salad and Anchovy Sauce (RM7.90). A must order side dish in Streat Thai. The sourish papaya salad is really promosing and gives an appetizing kick to your meal.

Braised Chicken Noodles (RM10.90). If you want something less complex but comforting on the tummy, then this Braised Chicken Noodles is a must order at Streat Thai. The noodles is silky and smooth while the soup is light and flavourful.

Tomyam Creamy Porridge with Seafood (RM18.90). Fancy some excitement in your somewhat usually bland and boring porridge? Customize your own porridge, then. You may mix and match the ingredients with two kinds of soup base; the sourish and spicy Tomyam soup base or the traditionally soothing Chicken Soup base. We are not exactly certified culinary expert to mix and match our own, and so we asks our host’s recommendation instead and we ended up having this spicy bubbling pot of Tomyam Creamy Porridge. It was my first time having spicy kind of porridge, but this surely won’t be my last. I somewhat like this kind of flavourful porridge with a chunks of seafood to excite you with. Highly recommended for those who are quite adventurous and want to try new things for a change.

, Coconut Smoothie
(RM8.90) and Butterfly Pea Ice Soda (RM4.90). Refreshing drinks that we ordered. They’re all nice but being a tea lover, my favourite was the Thai Milk Tea.

Red Ruby with Coconut Milk (RM6.90). Alas, all good things must come to an end and ours ended with a sweet note. We had this sweetly refreshing Red Ruby with Coconut as dessert. This bowl of creamy goodness is not cloyingly sweet and even those who doesn’t really fancy sweet food and beverages will like this.

Overall the dining experience at Streat Thai Jaya One, Petaling Jaya is splendid where food and price is concerned. And if I were to rate it, I’d give a bonus point on hospitality as well. The staffs are trained to greet the guests with Thai greetings and that alone made you feel that you are dining in Thailand itself instead of Malaysia. Definitely a restaurant you might want to patronize if you are craving for authentic Thai food without blowing up your pocket.

Take a Trip to Wonderland at Resorts World Genting

When I was a just a little girl, I was quite a bookworm. I read all sort of books as they are a form of escapism for me. They gave me the sort of joy that nothing else could give me.

One of the books that I’ve read as a child that got my head in the clouds for a little while was Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll. Unlike other fairytales that I’ve read, Alice in Wonderland is quite queer. It tells a story of a young girl who has fallen asleep under a tree in the garden after reading a storybook, and dreamed of an adventure in a strange world known as Wonderland.

While the story was just a story, it has quite an impression on me as a child and I wished that I too, could go to Wonderland, just like Alice . Alas, it remained just a childish dream until recently; where I ventured to Wonderland.

Okay, okay. I’m just exaggerating. I didn’t exactly go to Wonderland but I went to Resorts World Genting, where they are having Wonderland Parade in conjunction with Alice in Wonderland live musical thay will be ongoing throughout the school holiday in March.

I must say that the Wonderland Parade is pretty cool and highly entertaining. The parade was not only lively but featured all sort of fantastical characters. Some prominent fictional characters that I recognized is the Mad Hatter and Bugs Bunny.

During my visit, I managed to take some photos with the characters of Wonderland Parade. Here’s one taken at The Food Factory when they made a special appearance to entertain underprivileged children who were there to watch Alice in Wonderland musical, under Resorts World Genting CSR initiative.

This musical is not quite the Alice in Wonderland’s story that I’m familar with. If you’re to ask me, I’d say this is an artful interpretation of Alice in Wonderland where Alice accidentally ventured into Wonderland after following a White Rabbit and gotten herself into trouble after eating the giant cake that was made for the antagonist of the story, the wicked Red Queen. I won’t spoil the story for you but as the story develops, we will see Alice meet more interesting characters and see finally sees Alice being the saviour of Wonderland.This enchanting musical featured 10 original songs and cutting-edge three-dimensional projections.  This is a Mandarin production, but no worries, there’s English subtitles for non native speakers.

Create The No Makeup Look with Sweet Aiman

Some people say I look younger than my age. I don’t know how true is that but trust me, I’m already in my 30s and have a teenage son at that. People often ask me what’s my secret. Well, to tell you the truth, I don’t really have any well guarded secret. Perhaps just hanging on to the belief that less is more and I usually don’t do ‘heavy makeup’ but opt for the sweet ‘no makeup’ look instead; meaning no heavy eye makeup, no thick foundation or extra bright lip colours. They don’t really highlight my feature and make me look striking, of course, but it does help in creating the fresh, youthful image.

Here’s my ‘no makeup’ look. My essential makeup stuff, well, usually to create the ‘no makeup’ look, picking the right CC or DD cream for proper coverage on the face is essential. And here’s the recent one from that I think is not too shabby if you want to create the natural youthful look.

The 3D Cream DD Mineral Cushion’s coverage is quite decent, covering my flaws and eyebags while giving off a somewhat radiant glow. This product is great for those who wants to create a sweet, natural look. Disclaimer: Some may feel the texture of the 3D Cream DD Mineral Cushion is slightly sticky and oily upon application, especially those with oily skin type, but I don’t really have such problem.
