Scuba Diving Experience at UCSI Diving Centre, Cheras

It was 19th May 2019 and it’s my husband’s birthday, and also our wedding anniversary.  I have always felt that blowing candles on cakes is so overrated, and so I decided to do something different this year.

Although I had my eyes on tandem skydiving to commemorate our 17th anniversary, I gave it a pass considering that my husband does not deal well with with heights. So, instead of getting on a plane and jump off, I dragged him to Discovery Scuba Diving trial session at USCI Diving Centre with me to celebrate; literally under water. Here’s a picture of me and my husband at UCSI Diving Centre. It’s our first diving experience ever, and I was really excited about it.

Here are the equipments commonly used for Scuba Diving; oxygen tank, regulators, weight belts, snorkel masks, fins, etc.

Our diving instructor was Ms.Cyviour and here’s safety briefing in session. We were briefed on how to equip ourselves with the scuba diving equipments alongside the hand signals that is commonly used to communicate among divers underwater.

Once our instructor was satisfied that everything was all right and that we understood everything that she conveyed, we hopped into the pool to experience our very first confined water diving.

It feels amazing, to be honest, and definitely something I’d do again in a heartbeat.

Here’s yours truly, learning how to navigate and maneuveur in the water. It’s truly relaxing and thereupeutic.

We were taught to always stay near our diving buddy and never stray far in any circumstances.

I’m not much a swimmer, to be honest. At most, I can say that I can only float around. Initially I thought diving would be difficult, but trust me, diving is honestly easier than swimming. At least to me, it is easier than swimming once you get used to breathing with your mouth through the regulator.

My husband and I in the pool together. I wanted to do the “I jump, you jump” from the plane but ended up trying scuba diving instead for our anniversary. No regrets there and I’m already scheming for a PADI license so that I will be able to experience the beauty of the underwater world, and hopefully by our 18th anniversary next year, we’ll be able to dive for real in the open water with PADI license in our pocket.

It was indeed a memorable experience, I must say and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Diving is definitely endorphine inducing and I really like it alot.

If you would like to try diving but not sure where to start, you might want to consider heading over to USCI Diving Centre, Cheras. The instructors are really patient and friendly and the session is non-swimmer friendly.
