Kembara #dekatje: 4×4 Jungle Experience

2015 is definitely an adventurous year for me. Not only I went birdwatching and explore mangrove forest in the rain, but rock climbing and river tubing as well. Most of these priceless experience is courtesy of our good friends in Tourism Malaysia Selangor. They have been going all out to promote undiscovered gems in Selangor, and it’s been an honour and privilege to join them in their quest to bring in more visitors and tourists to explore and experience Selangor.

Another precious thing that my family and I get to experience during our previous trip with Tourism Malaysia Selangor is the extreme jungle experience with a 4WD or 4×4.

If you have been following my blog post or have been watching videos on the Kembara #dekatje series on my family’s YouTube channel, you would realize that Kalumpang Resort and Training Centre provide all kinds of packages to cater your team building and family day needs, and that includes extreme sports like abseiling, tubing, river crossing and off-roading. While we did not manage to experience abseiling and river crossing during our trip to Kalumpang, we did get to enjoy river tubing and jungle experience in a 4×4 vehicle.

Here’s sharing with you our experience jn the jungle with a 4×4 drive. 4×4
translates to a vehicle with 4 wheels powered by 4 wheels that can go all direction in rough terrains.

Here’s us, prepping our photography equipments and getting into our ride. One 4×4 vehicle can accommodate up to a maximum of 8 passengers.

Our rough adventure begins. We departed just after our snacking session and seriously had no idea that the ride would most probably make us lose the snacks in the tummy if we had motion sickness. Yes. It was really a rough ride. I’d likened it to riding a terribly bumpy roller coaster without the seatbelts or going through an earthquake in a small room without any actual thing to hang on to.

Venturing deeper into the jungle

After about 30 minutes of a rough ride or so, our vehicle got stuck in a huge hole and we got stuck in the middle of the jungle. Did I feel scared? Strangely, no. In fact, I was a bit excited. And my son, AlienGoTravel too. He was asking me if we’ll be staying for the night in the jungle this time. It must have been the adrenaline rush that struck us fearless or something.

Friend from Malaysia Backpacker, giving a victory pose after our vehicle managed to be released. Obviously he was relieved. As much as we all would love to stay for a night in the jungle, the thought of starving and not having provisions and going hungry in the middle of the jungle does not exactly appeal much to us.

The boys, giving a macho killer pose with our ride after our jungle trekking session.

It was indeed an experience of a lifetime, and if you’re to ask me if I’d do it again, I would tell you that I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Tried the 4×4 at Kalumpang Resort before and it was exhilarating! Super love it and wouldn’t mind doing it again – especially when I got the feeling like the 4-wheel drive was gonna tip over. Haha..
