Wagyu Beef Delights at Sango Japanese Restaurant, Petaling Jaya

I have always love Japanese food, but most Japanese food franchises in Malaysia serves mediocre Japanese cuisine. A shame really, as authentic Japanese food are supposed to taste beyond delicious. I’m constantly on the lookout for Japanese restaurants that serves good Japanese food in Klang Valley and here’s one among the few that I can recommend; Sango Japanese Restaurant.

The restaurant have a history of 22 years in Malaysia as of 2017, and is located at level 2 of Crystal Crown Hotel in Petaling Jaya Selangor, Malaysia.

The restaurant offers public dining, but should you require some privacy, private tatami room is available upon request and it could accomodate 8 pax of guests at one time. Perfect for small private gatherings.

Spotted upon entering the restaurant is their open sashimi bar where the chef will freshly prepare sashimi for you upon ordering.

Similar to the sashimis, Yakitori are also made to order to retain the natural flavours of the skewered dish.

Sango Japanese Restaurant is specialized in Yakitori, and in my previous visit, I’ve tried a selection of their Donburi but as of writing, they are currently offering Sango Beef Series which is really good. What’s recommended on their menu are; Wagyu Toban Yaki, Gyu Tataki Truffled Ponzu, Wafu Hamburger Slider, Delicious Wagyu Steak Donburi, Superb Wagyu Maki, Bara Wagyu Cubes Donburi, Wagyu Cubes Donburi with Foie Gras, Wagyukushiyaki and Ox Tongue Donburi.

Wagyu Toban Yaki (RM60) . This dish features seared wagyu meat and vegetabe on ceramic plates. You may do all the searing yourselves, but be careful not to overcook the meat to retain the juiciness of the meat. Just sear both sides til medium rare and they’re all good for your enjoyment.

Gyu Tataki Truffled Ponzu (RM38). These thinly sliced beef with truffled citrus sauce is prettu much tangy and refreshing on the palate. Those who likes sourish dishes will adore this.

Wafu Hamburger Slider (RM20) is a set of Japanese style hamburgers served with crispy onion and mustard. Highly recommended for children and for those who wants some light carbs in their diet.

Delicious Wagyu Steak Donburi (RM45). Can’t go a day without your fill of rice? This wholesome meal is definitely for rice lovers. The ricebowl is topped generously with grilled Wagyu beef and perfectly done onsen egg. A promising and comforting meal for a hungry tummy.

Superb Wagyu Maki (RM35). A fan of sushis and maki? Try this Superb Wagyu Maki. The Wagyu beef are paired with rice, miso spicy mayo with crispy onion. A unique rendition of rice rolls, I must say and a refreshing change from the usual fishes and such.

Bara Wagyu Cubes Donburi (RM55). This ricebowl are topped with Wagyu cubes with tare glaze, scallions and tobiko bits. A wholesome meal that will keep your growling tummy happy.

Wagyu Cubes Donburi with Foie Gras (RM85). This dish features a lovely bowl of rice topped with melt-in-your mouth Wagyu cubes, foie gras and shittake mushrooms. An luxurious indulgence in a bowl, definitely. A personal favourite of mine among all the Wagyu beef series offered by Sango Japanese Restaurant.

Ox Tongue Donburi (RM38). Feeling advanturous? Fancy something a little exotic? Try this Ox Tongue Donburi. Yes, as the name suggest, this ricebowl dish is topped with sliced ox tongue. They’re delicious, I assure you.

Wagyukushiyaki (RM18) is a must try if you just want meat and nothing else. Wagyukushiyaki is simply a dish of charcoal grilled Wagyu cubes seasoned with sea salt. The dish offers satisfying bites in each of it’s skewers.

These Wagyu beef dishes from Sango is a must try if you are a fan of all things meaty. The selections of Wagyu beef are perfectly marbled and actually melts-in-your mouth as you eat and I promise you that you’ll be begging for more once you’ve tried them.
