The Chef who is responsible for your gastronomic pleasure at The Olive? Well, say hello to Chef Mohd Radzuan Hamzah. Having begun his culinary journey helping out his father in the kitchen when he was a boy, Chef Radzuan made the move to Genting almost two decades ago where The Olive became his work place since it’s launching. Responsible for many of the awards it holds, he makes his fourth appearance as an MIGF master chef this year and will be presenting a menu that contains the best from the land and the sea.

I had the pleasure to experience a snippet of the tantalizing cuisine that The Olive have to offer at the festival preview that was held at Taste MIGF at Berjaya Hotel on 1st September 2018. The Olive has dished out these; Cold Tomato Essense Basil and Tomato Caviar, Beef Bourginone with Mashed Potatoes and 3 flavour Chocolate Mousse.

Cold Tomato Essence Basil&Caviar offers you a summery taste that’s not only refreshing, but nourishing as well.

Beef Bourginone&Mashed Potatoes is richly flavoured, but not overwhelming on the palate. Pretty comforting on the the tummy, this warrant for more than just one helping.

3 Flavours Mousse was simply divine. The bittersweet mousse practically melts in the mouth and a real treat for those with sweet tooth.

The little snippets was definitely worth a mention and if a preview is already that good, I can only imagine how delicious the festival offerings is at The Olive. I reckon it will definitely be worth the trip uphill for the entire course of the festival menu at The Olive.

Korean Oppa in The Making with Althea

I have a son and no daughter. And so they say when you have a son, you don’t have to worry about him that much in comparison to a daughter, especially when it comes to grooming. But then again, I don’t think gender matters much when it comes to self grooming. Whether it is a son or daughter you have, you ought to teach them to at least try to groom themselves well so that they have good grooming habit and takes good care of themselves.

My son is now a teenage boy, and puberty is kicking in and I thought it’s about time that I introduce him to some self grooming items. And so, we got this; a boxful of stuff from Althea, the world’s best place to get all your K-beauty and skincare needs.

Here’s the content of the box. Some grooming supplies.

What I got for the boy is pretty much basic and great for teenagers.

Oatmeal Therapy Cleansing Tissue.

Online reviews stated that this product is mainly used as a makeup remover wipe, but I was drawn to this product by the ingredients though.

It claims to be all natural and all that and so I thought it will be great for my boy to use to wipe his constantly oily face.

This works like magic. It doesn’t sting or irritate his skin. Not only it cleansed very well but kept the skin moisturized as well. There were no chemical smell. Instead, it smell like something citrusy. Really pleasant to use and will definitely restock for myself to use as well.

Next is the 24K Gold Snail Soothing Gel from Royal Skin. They are also offering the Aloe Vera version of it, but what attracted me when I saw the product is the 24K Gold and Snail. Gold and snail mucin? Plus, it is a multi purpose soothing gel that can be used for the entire body. So I thought, hey, why not give this a try?

The 24K Gold Snail Soothing Gel from Royal Skin does not disappoint. It soothes skin irritations, especially after a long day under the sun. It really works wonder not only on the skin, but great as hair gel and hair mask as well. Trust me. It’s worth every single cent spent on this. Bonus? It smells really good too. Highly recommended. Great for both adult and teenagers. I initially bought this for my son to use but I keep stealing them to use for myself. Guess this will be on our restock list soon enough.

Aura Radiance BB Foundation Cream by Nella. My son needs some serious coverage for his acne.

I really wish we can get rid of his pimples but the stubborn stuff really just won’t go away, regardless of the products used. I guess it’s just hormone speaking and so, since we can’t really get rid of them all, why not try to at least cover them up a lil bit while trying to reduce the faint scars caused by acne? The least I can do for him is try to make the pimples less visible, so I got him this; Aura Radiance BB Foundation Cream by Nella. The Aura Radiance BB Foundation Cream by Nella is not too expensive and contains SPF 37.

Here’s the before picture where he haven’t applied the BB cream yet.

And here’s the after picture. I got to say that Aura Radiance BB Foundation Cream by Nella provided quite a good coverage. I guess, I approve this one too and this will be a permanent item for me to check on my next purchase.

Fleurissant Lip Glow by Glamfox is a sheer balm, colour changing by temperature that enhances your natural lip color while moisturizing and protecting lips with a really nice fruity scent.

Features clear jelly lipstick with real flower and 24k gold flakes. Isn’t it pretty? It is almost too beautiful to use.

All we need to do is just apply it on the lips like you’d do a normal lipstick or lipbalm.The product gives the lips a unique shade of pink based on temperature and PH of your lips. Warmer lips will have deeper colour therefore everyone has his or her own exclusive shades of pink lip colour. I really like this product. Not only it gives the lips natural, healthy looking colour but it helps to moisturized the lips as well.

Tony Moly Delight Lip Tint. I got this for myself, actually, and not for my son.

But I did not like the coverage and the result it gave me. The tint was hard to apply and drying on my lips and makes my lips flaky. I tought of just tossing it aside, but the boy wanted to try it out, and so I just let him test it out.

Nope. While the colour turns out quite okay, the tint is not for me and not for my son either. It’s too drying on our lips, but that’s probably just us, so don’t let us stop you from buying if you’d like to have a grab on this.

Our loot from Althea costs us about RM100. To be honest, the products that we got are quite friendly on the pocket and overall, I am satisfied with the order that I made. We love all the K-Beauty and Ski care products that we got from Althea,(Minus the Tony Moly tint, that is). Will definitely hunt for more stuff so that I can turn the boy into a Korean Oppa lookalike and myself a hotbabe Noona. That said, Althea is love. Althea, saranghae. Kamsahamida for all the lovely K-Beauty and Skincare items.

My weekend is always mundane and boring these days. Unless I planned ahead to travel during earlier or the week, I usually ended up either wasting the weekend away or just doing the routine things that I normally do on weekends. You know, sleeping in, cleaning up the house, doing laundry or just stocking up for groceries. You get the picture. It’s all the boring things.

But last weekend was really exciting. I was as challenged to a shopping spree rush in conjunction with the Shopping Spree Contest jointly organized by Econsave and Setapak Central Mall where the winners gets to spend a maximum RM1,000 on groceries at Econsave. The catch? They only had 3 minutes to grab anything that they want from Econsave’s shelves.

5 winners have been selected from this lucky draw contest to participate in the shopping rush at Econsave Setapak Central Mall and to make the contest more exhilarating, an additional RM200 will be given to the first participant who can come back with their groceries before the 3 minutes. Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival 2018 with Donutes Signature Mooncakes

Malaysia is a multi-religious and multi-cultural country that is blessed with not only wide varieties of cuisine, but it’s also a country that have all sorts of festivities throughout the year. Among one of the widely celebrated festival in Malaysia is the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest festival celebrated notably by those with Chinese ethnicity on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon at night, corresponding to late September to early October of the Gregorian calendar with a full moon at night.

The festival celebrates three fundamental concepts whereby family and friends coming together, or harvesting crops for the festival. It’s said the moon is the brightest and roundest on this day which means family reunion. And this is the main reason why people in Malaysia think mid-autumn is important.

Culturally, it is customary for celebrants to enjoy mooncakes during gatherings or giving mooncakes to each other, and here’s recommending the less traditional mooncakes for those who prefers a more modern touch; Donutes Signature Mooncakes. To say that I love all things Korean is an understatement. I’ve been hit by the Hallyu fever since I was just a mere college student and I suspect I’ve never recovered from it. Yes. I love K-Beauty products, K-drama, K-Pop songs, handsome Oppa and of course, I love Korean food. When we talk about Korean food, Korea have have a wide diversity of food to offer the world. My all time favourite Korean food are their wide varieties of jiggaes, endless types of kimchi and bimbap. They are simply comforting. I thought my love for Korean food will end just there, but I was wrong. I was recently introduced to Korean fried chicken by a friend and I thought that they are simply delicious and I could go on and on eating them forever.

Problems? Yes. The preparation of these chicken are usually deep fried, and it’s not quite healthy to binge on. But guess what? There’s better alternative to those greasy Korean fried chicken.

Goobne, one of the top chicken restaurant in Korea has just opened in MyTown, Cheras and they are offering Korean oven roasted chicken. Yes. Korea No.1 oven roasted chicken finally makes a debut in Malaysia.

For those who are familar with all things K-food, you’ll probably know that Goobne offers healthier, low calorie, low sodium and low trans-fat chicken meals to all K-food lovers. They’re really famous in Korea. But if you are not familar with Goobne, it’s time you find out and experience the wholesome roasted chicken goodness at Goobne.

They look like fried chicken, taste like fried chicken but not fried in a flood of greasy, unhealthy oil and definitely makes a better K-drama binging companion should you decided to take these away and marathon on some K-drama over the weekend or something. Yups. I can assure you that these taste better than those tasty looking Oppa you’ve been drooling on.

Take a closer look. Looks can be deceiving. These may look as if they are fried and coated generously with saucy glaze, but the truth is not even a drop of oil was used and the chicken were roasted to flavourful and juicy perfection in the oven. They are simply crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.

Goobne Deep Cheese

This is one of the Goobne chicken’s flavours that I will personally recommend to all cheese lovers. The chicken are generously coated with cheese powder. Weird combination to some, but I personally think that it is actually a gastronomic wonder. The cheese powder goes really well with the roasted chicken pieces.

Goobne Volcano

Goobne Volcano is their signature and a bestseller. However, let me give you a forewarning. These are really spicy and gives you a tongue numbing experience. Definitely for the more adventurous diners and not for the faint hearted.

Cheese Fondue Chicken (RM 61.90)

A must try for all cheese lovers. This fondue features two types of cheeses with well marinated spicy chicken on the sides. Once this arrives at your table, simply turn on the heat to melt the cheese and dip the chicken pieces as you go. Be quick though. The cheese tend to harden at a pretty fast pace.

Volcano Cheese Tteok- Bokki (RM32.90)

If you are into Korean street-food, then you’ll love these upgraded version of the regular Tteok- Bokki. This version of Korean rice cakes dish comes with a bed of spicy ramen, a piece of hard boiled egg and topped generously with savoury and spicy sauce alongside with melted cheese. Again, this dish is not for the faint hearted, as it leans pretty much on the tongue-numbing spicy side of the scale.

Chicken Fried Rice With Volcano Sauce (RM 18.90)

The Goobne Signature Spicy Fried Rice comes with the chicken bits and raw omelet served on a hot plate. What you need to do when this is served is to mix the goey omelet mixture with the rice and you’re good to go. The fried rice somewhat leans to a really spicy side, so if you are a fan of spicy food, then this is for you.

Signature Flying Cheese Egg Roll (RM 18.90).

Love all things cheesy? Then this is for you. The egg roll is a combination of melted cheeses rolled up in layers of egg and topped with the flying fish eggs and drizzled with creamy sauce. Highly recommended and a must try on their menu.

Seafood Jjamppong Soup (RM 21.90)

I have always loved Korean style soups and stews, especially those with tofu in it. But this time around I decided to try something different. I went for this seafood soup instead. The bowlful of soup is packed with ingredients like prawns, squids and mussels. Flavourful and thick, I think this will pair really well with a side of piping hot white rice.

Goobne does not lack refreshing beverages for you to wash down all the saucy things with, but if you’d like to cleanse your palate after your meal, just order these non-alcoholic Ritas; Mojito and the Shark Blood. They are not only refreshing and cooling, but insta friendly too. At least where Shark Blood is concerned. No worries, no actual sharks are involved in the making of this sweet icy concoction, so bottoms ups and drink with ease.

Overall, Goobne is a wonderful to dine-in at. The food is not only tasted great, but a much healthier option too where chicken is concerned. Definitely worth every single calories earned.
