Go green, go planet!

Let’s take a deep breath and chill out from the fiery political situation out there. I’m not so satisfied on the budget, so I guess I’ll be taking a few days to chill before cursing our goddamn government again. I can’t write about what I think about the budget now, because I’m sure as hell I’m going to paint blasphemy all over my blog. I think I’ll spare my precious readers and dear visitors from reading my not so innocent words today.

Let’s go green. No, not support PAS, but let’s go green on our environment. This is probably one topic that not many of us willing to touch about in the midsts of rat race, food gluttony as well as the current political and economic tsunami. We constantly hear coffee shop talk about how much we hate government or opposition and how they should run our country. And we also hear about gossips and scandal quite often too, but how many of us actually heard about conserving the rainforest or reducing all sorts of pollution these days? Not much right?

Well, don’t feel bad if you haven’t hear any. It’s not your fault, because it seems people are less concern about mother earth these days. Even me, these stuff simply slipped off my mind until I read a post in u-jean’s blog about how wrong we are when we thought Sarawak is still in all its’ green splendour.

Not much people are talking about the environment. We’re more concern on how to survive in the concrete forest with pieces of papers that’s given value to it. Take out your wallet and look at that piece of paper in your wallet. Yes. Your money. While we are worrying that our money value is plundering down the drain as the cost of living points to the sky, mother earth is probably worrying about her precious trees being cut down for various of reasons, including making that piece of paper in your wallet.

How many of us has been driving around the cities in Malaysia (or any other part of the world) and realized that there are not much trees being planted lately? Instead of trees being planted to provide lush scenery and fresh air for us and our offspring to breathe, huge and beautiful trees that also provide shade are being replaced by bricks and iron bars that soon will grow into huge concrete building with crystal clear glasses that will reflect and conduct heat effectively and cause the green house effect unfailingly.

Well, it’s not a wonder that people these days are easily agitated. The surroundings are not helping or conductive towards our physical or emotional well being anymore. And we are not doing anything much to improve the environment. Instead of conserving, we are cutting trees, not to mention that we also pollute our precious third rock from the sun in so many ways. To make things worst, not much of us even bother to recycle and prefers to use non-biodegradable materials.

It’s not a wonder mother nature vent her anger and wrath towards us in the form of disaster. I can’t say that I am not guilty in that matter, because I am guilty for using plastics and not recycling too. There’s no question about it, and I am sure that many of us out there are the same too. While I was writing this article, I feel ashamed of myself that I did not do my part in conserving a greener environment for our children’s future.

Now that I have been slap with the awareness on how important is is to conserve our environment and reduce pollution , I will try my best to change my pollutant ways so that so that our children do not have the need to walk out of the house wearing oxygen mask just to breathe as a consequence of our neglect and ignorance today. I may not be able to plant trees to raise a rainforest, but I’ll start by recycling. How about you?

Below is one of my favourite cartoon theme song when I was younger, Captain Planet. Maybe some of you should allow your children to watch the cartoon. I reckon it, it deliver good message on how important it is to be kind to mother nature.

Cleffairy: Sing with me now, people…( u-jean, this article is for you, thank you for reminding me to be kinder to the environment)

“EARTH!”
“FIRE!”
“WIND!”
“WATER!”
“HEART!”

“Go Planet!”

“By your powers combined, I am Captain Planet!”

Captain Planet, he’s our hero
Gonna take pollution down to zero

He’s our powers magnified
And he’s fighting on the planet’s side

Captain Planet, he’s our hero
Gonna take pollution down to zero

Gonna help him put asunder
Bad guys who like to loot and plunder

“You’ll pay for this Captain Planet!”

We’re the Planeteers
You can be one too
‘Cause saving our planet is the thing to do!

Looting and polluting is not the way
Hear what Captain Planet has to say!

“The Power is Yours!”
