Resorts World Genting Hosts Special Buka Puasa Dinner with Orphanages and Old Folks Homes

In the spirit of giving and the holy month of Ramadhan, Resorts World Genting recently hosted a Majlis Berbuka Puasa for underprivileged orphan children and senior citizens. Resorts World Genting prepared a fun-filled itinerary, for the children and senior citizens in conjunction with the festive season, treating them to the latest and greatest experiences available at the mountain resort.

image

Waking up bright and early on Sunday, the children woke up anticipating their first trip to Resorts World Genting and prepared light jackets for the trip. With 158 children from three orphanages (Dar Asnaf Al-Fateh Gombak, Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah and Rumah Anak Yatim Dan Asnaf As-Solihin) and 12 senior citizens from Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Husna Arrashid in attendance, the journey up Gunung Ulu Kali allowed these special guests the chance to see spectacular views of pristine rainforest coming up the mountain.

Upon arrival at Genting Grand Hotel, the children and senior citizens were greeted warmly by the Resorts World Genting team, including Puan Seri Cecilia Lim, wife of Genting Malaysia Berhad Chairman Hospitality and CEO Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Dato’ Edward Holloway, Executive Vice President of Leisure and and Katherine Chew, Vice President of Resort Communications and Public Relations).

image

As members of the Resorts World Genting team greeted each orphan and senior citizen individually, smiles were seen all around as the guests marvelled at the scale of the resort and enjoyed the cool weather. Speaking in Malay, Puan Seri Cecilia Lim said, “I would first like to extend my thanks to the children’s homes and old folks’ homes for attending our ‘buka puasa’ feast on this special day. The month of Ramadhan is a holy time where our Muslims friends fast together for their faith. This month is also a time where we are all reminded to be giving and this celebration today is a small gesture by Resorts World Genting to the community.”

With the guests and the Genting team quickly becoming fast friends, the group was led up to the soaring atrium of SkyAvenue. The children and senior citizens witnessed the brand-new Batman Experience at the SkySymphony stage. A celebration of the iconic comic superhero’s 80 years, the show dazzled the guests as the history of the Caped Crusader played out across 360-degree wraparound screens and transforming winch ball display set to a pulsating soundtrack.

image

After seeing this kinetic audio-visual extravaganza, the group was then led to the Snow World for another treat. Snow World at First World Plaza brought the guests into an enchanting wintry wonderland at a chilly -6°, they were ushered in by warm staff to prepare them with gloves, boot and jackets. They were brief at the entrance and off they went, running into the cold. The children were in awe of the snow and all the 3D trick art attractions. Giggles and laughter were heard as they slide down the toboggans and having snow ball fights with each other.

Filled with adrenaline from experiencing snow for the very first time, the group walked through SkyAvenue Mall to proceed to the 4th Floor Adventureland; where the Dinosaurs at and oddities await them. In the Jurassic Research Centre, the group were brought back into time when Dinosaurs ruled the earth. Some were scared and some were brave, to get up close and personal with each dinosaurs that were displayed. They continued on their journey into a world of oddities at Ripley’s Believe it or Not with the wackiest and weirdest items that our unusual world has to offer. They played around with the interactive displays and burst out with laughter as they experienced new things like never before.

“Decades back, I used to visit Resorts World Genting with my family and I have many happy memories here. Although my loved ones are not here with me, I am often reminded of them during the Ramadhan month and I felt young again today whilst enjoying myself with the many activities,” said En. Harrunashid Mohd Nor from Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Husna Arrashid.

After a fun-filled day, the group head out into the cool mountain air just as the sun began to set, bathing the landscape in a golden glow. With the time for Buka Puasa drawing near, the children and senior citizens were treated to a thrilling ride on the SkyAvenue Skyway cable car, marvelling at the dusk-hued panorama. Upon arrival at the graceful setting of Awana Hotel, they were led to Rajawali Coffee House where a delicious spread of over 100 dishes awaited them. Puan Seri Cecilia Lim, Dato’ Edward Holloway and Katherine Chew were once again in attendance, greeting and mingling among the group.

image

As the Maghrib prayer call rang out across the clear mountain air, the guests tucked in to the special pasar malam-themed buffet. Featuring a collection of food and drink stalls serving dishes deeply steeped in Malaysian culture – from Ayam Percik to Murtabak, Nasi Briyani to Roast Lamb, fresh seafood to a giant spread of traditional kueh – members of the Genting team assisted the guests to ensure that everyone got to sample a taste of the splendid Buka Puasa buffet.

“Although we don’t often get to visit the ‘Pasar Ramadhan’, I felt like I was in one today with the amazing buffet. I also had a lot of fun watching the shows today, riding the cable car and even seeing Batman!” said Puan Roselina binti Rusli from Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah

image

With full bellies and broad smiles, the children and senior citizens were treated to one last surprise. Each of the three orphanages and the old folks home received a gift hamper of rice, cooking oil, Milo, Maggi instant noodles, dried Bihun and biscuits to take a little bit of the Genting hospitality home with them. Each child also received a goodie bag containing a Faber-Castell stationery set and snacks like Twisties, Cheezels and assorted candies, along with an auspicious Duit Raya packet. The senior citizens were not left out, with each receiving a gift bag containing necessary amenities including a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, body cream and a revitalising bottle of Minyak Cap Kapak.

Under the twinkling light of a thousand stars against an inky-black sky, it was time to say goodbye. The Resorts World Genting team bade farewell to each and every one of their guests, wishing them a happy Ramadhan and a special Hari Raya Puasa, with a promise that they would see each other again. Ramadhan is a month of reflection and generosity, and this special Majlis Berbuka Puasa day will be one that these children and senior citizens will always remember.

Scuba Diving Experience at UCSI Diving Centre, Cheras

It was 19th May 2019 and it’s my husband’s birthday, and also our wedding anniversary.  I have always felt that blowing candles on cakes is so overrated, and so I decided to do something different this year.

image

Although I had my eyes on tandem skydiving to commemorate our 17th anniversary, I gave it a pass considering that my husband does not deal well with with heights. So, instead of getting on a plane and jump off, I dragged him to Discovery Scuba Diving trial session at USCI Diving Centre with me to celebrate; literally under water. Here’s a picture of me and my husband at UCSI Diving Centre. It’s our first diving experience ever, and I was really excited about it.

image

Here are the equipments commonly used for Scuba Diving; oxygen tank, regulators, weight belts, snorkel masks, fins, etc.

image

Our diving instructor was Ms.Cyviour and here’s safety briefing in session. We were briefed on how to equip ourselves with the scuba diving equipments alongside the hand signals that is commonly used to communicate among divers underwater.

image

Once our instructor was satisfied that everything was all right and that we understood everything that she conveyed, we hopped into the pool to experience our very first confined water diving.

image

It feels amazing, to be honest, and definitely something I’d do again in a heartbeat.

image

Here’s yours truly, learning how to navigate and maneuveur in the water. It’s truly relaxing and thereupeutic.

image

We were taught to always stay near our diving buddy and never stray far in any circumstances.

image

I’m not much a swimmer, to be honest. At most, I can say that I can only float around. Initially I thought diving would be difficult, but trust me, diving is honestly easier than swimming. At least to me, it is easier than swimming once you get used to breathing with your mouth through the regulator.

image

My husband and I in the pool together. I wanted to do the “I jump, you jump” from the plane but ended up trying scuba diving instead for our anniversary. No regrets there and I’m already scheming for a PADI license so that I will be able to experience the beauty of the underwater world, and hopefully by our 18th anniversary next year, we’ll be able to dive for real in the open water with PADI license in our pocket.

image

It was indeed a memorable experience, I must say and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Diving is definitely endorphine inducing and I really like it alot.

If you would like to try diving but not sure where to start, you might want to consider heading over to USCI Diving Centre, Cheras. The instructors are really patient and friendly and the session is non-swimmer friendly.

⚡️Discovery Scuba Diving Session RM50 / person only(promo price)】
Inclusive of full equipment + One-time 60 minutes scuba diving confined water experience @ UCSI Swimming Pool.

Discovery Scuba Diving is available for adult/child age 8 and above. For more info about PADI and scuba diving courses offered at UCSI Diving Centre, hop over to: https://www.facebook.com/ucsiscubadiving/

YFS Raya Sale Serendah RM20, betul ke YFS Concept Store SCAM?

image

So, I caught a glimpse of something shady is going on at YFS Concept Store during this Raya festive season somewhere on social media a couple of days ago, but I didn’t manage to read the entire posting. It was gone before I knew it and I nearly forgotten about it until I passed by the YFS Concept Store outlet at The Mines Shopping Mall when I was doing my Raya shopping, and so, I decided to snoop a little bit. There might be some juicy scoop. Festive season scamming is not something unheard of. Some stores put up “Sale”, “Discount”  or even “Buy 1 Free 1” signs and play around with pricing and such, misleading the consumers to think that the items that they are selling are cheap but the fact is otherwise.

image

A glance at the YFS Concept Store The Mines Shopping Centre from the outside. Looks pretty much normal. YFS Concept Store is a store that sells trendy clothing suitable for the entire family. I saw customers going in with their children in tow in excitements. That’s when it gets really suspicious. Something must be really going on here at YFS Concept Store.

image

Apparently there’s a huge raya sale going on. Banners screaming “SALE” are  hung everywhere in the outlet and I was getting really curious. People are practically snatching things up and making beeline to the cash register!

image

Apparently they are offering clothing items from as low as RM10-RM20. I didn’t believe it at first cuz the store actually sells high quality and trendy clothings. I was thinking that it must be really a SCAM and there must be some hidden condition where you have to make certain purchases or something before being able to buy items at that price. There must be a catch. But after inspecting closely, there’s no catch, and I was in awe. I practically go “OMG! Biar betul! Murah giler baju kat sini!”.

image

There are a lot of choice of clothing here at YFS Concept Store.

image

Kids clothing being sold from RM7 above is spotted

image

There are even bundled up sale promo where you get more value for your ringgit when you buy more items.

image

There are plenty of stylish clothes for you to indulge your inner fashionista with.

image

Anyway, I have to shamelessly admit that I decided to do my Raya shopping there and then, considering that I haven’t bought any Raya outfits yet. I have been looking forward to visiting and “beraya” and attending open houses this coming Aidilfitri and I have nothing nice to wear in my wardrobe. Most of them are old and kinda out of style.
This deal is too good to be passed on and I immediately got into my bargain hunter mode.

image

Now, I have quite a tight budget, considering it’s totally an unplanned shopping session and it’s the middle of the month. My walking ATM machine a.k.a my husband was at work and my paycheque haven’t come in yet. Obviously I don’t want to spend more than RM200 on just my raya clothings, and so I decided to go with the bargain corner and picked some clothes. There are plenty of interesting finds. Nothing I picked were over RM19. Check out what I found in the RM10 and RM19 section:

image

Lovely blouse white blouse (RM19). This was love at first sight. I thought it emits the aura of innocence and makes me look rather angelic.

image

Thin Yellow Hoodie (RM10). The striking yellow caught my eyes and I knew that I got to make this the new permanent residence in my wardrobe.

image

Played mixed and match a little, what do you think? This mix and match outfit costs only RM29 (White assymetrical blouse-RM19, Thin Yellow Hoodie-RM10). Such a steal. You wouldn’t get such an interesting OOTD anywhere else for such an affordable price, I assure you.

image

Black and grey blouse (RM19). This blouse is the modest type. Just the perfect casual wear for raya.

image

Lovely chiffon top (RM19). Another wonderful piece that will make great companion during raya open houses or visiting.

image

Lovely black blouse (RM10). This simple black blouse will no doubt look as if it’s an outfit worth hundreds of ringgit should you pair it with tiny pieces of earrings or necklaces.

image

Striking red blouse, RM19. Much love and energy, this one. I like how it made me stand out effortlessly.

image

Ruffle tops RM10, perfect for a casual sunny day out.

image

Lavender coloured cardigan (RM10). Made from thin and airy fabric, this piece offers sweet and innocent look and is a perfect bikini or swimwear cover up should you go for a beach trip.

image

Cute pink shirt with watermelon printed on it (RM19). I took this simply because it’s pink and it has my favourite fruit on it. What do you think? Do I look cute in pink?

image

A flourescent coloured long-sleeved shirt (RM10). Another eye catchy piece that caught my fancy. It has “Ms.Perfect” written on it. How can I not have such perfection that tells the world that I am perfect? Definitely my must have.

image

Comfy baby-T (RM10). I picked this because of it’s fabric. It’s so soft, comfy and airy. Perfect to be worn during sunny weather.

image

Knitted top (RM10). This knitted top is one of my favourite finds. The colour is really striking. A mood booster, this one. It makes me feel so young and energetic.

image

Funky streetwear shirt (RM10). Another interestingly fashionable piece of clothing that I found at the bargain section. Looks cool on me, don’t you think? It shows off my shoulder blade pretty nicely.

Anyway, I got all these looks for just RM175. All things considered, I think it’s really worth my money:

image

Modest and demure look for hari raya visiting.

image

Casual sweet and feminine look for special occasions.

image

Young, cheerful and funky clothing as daily casual wear.

image

I was definitely a happy camper with all of my purchases. No such thing as scamming the customers here. What you see is what you get, and there’s no catch to their discounted and sale items. And you know what’s sweeter? YFS Concept Store is also giving away RM50 cash voucher for every purchase above RM200. You may use the voucher at any YFS Concept Store for your next visit. Awesome, right? So, what are you waiting for? Head over to your nearest YFS Concept Store and indulge your inner fashionista. The Raya sale will be ongoing until 9th June 2019.

Fabulous Always with Althea A’Bloom Skincare Series

Guess what, guys? My favourite K-beauty online shopping platform, Althea Korea has recently launched some new products, and this time around, it’s some skincare items and some makeup sponge.

image

Althea A’Bloom sheet masks, Giant Meringue Puff and Baby Meringue Puff and Althea A’Bloom  BHA Blackhead Blaster. First glance at these skincare items made me squeal like an excited teenager. The packaging is so cute and eye-catchy with happy summer vibe, making me feel like using these for my skincare routine will be fun instead of just a chore.

So, let’s get down to business. Are they as fun to use as they look? Let me share with you what I think about them:

Althea A’Bloom sheet masks

Althea A’Bloom sheet masks have 4 fruits inspired sheet masks with cute illustrations on their packaging with witty names.

image

Water-Me-Long Moisturizing Watermelon Mask Sheet

image

Avo-Cuddle-Me Nourishing Avocado Mask Sheet

image

Sparkle-Me-Bright Brightening Lemon Lime Mask Sheet

image

AC-Me-Peach Anti Blemish Peach Mask Sheet

I’ve used all of these and all of them have citrusy scent with gel like essence. The masks are extremely hydrating on the skin while the texture of the sheet is the thin kind that will help your skin breathe. Those who destest fruity mask might not like this but I personally love it. It leaves my skin so soft after usage and I wish Althea will come up with body lotion, shower gel or shampoo with similar scents so that my whole body would smell as great after usage. My favourite is the Water-Me-Long Moisturizing Watermelon Mask Sheet. The hydration was deep and intense and I feel so refreshed and rejuvenated after using it. My only complain is that I cannot get enough of it. Luckily for me though, the price for each of these cute facial mask is really affordable. The mask is gentle on the skin, and therefore I would also recommend this for those with sensitive skin and also, I think these are great for teenagers as well.

Althea A’Bloom Giant Meringue Puff and Baby Meringue Puff

image

Looking at these makes me hungry and made me think of my favourite sweet pastry that I usually got from the bakery. I honestly feel like eating them instead of using them to apply my makeup. I usually don’t use makeup sponge or beauty blender like these cuz I think they do not give me the even result that I want, especially when I am applying foundation or blushers, but Althea A’Bloom Giant Meringue Puff and Baby Meringue Puff have really soft and bouncy texture that helps with such problems. The variation of sizes allow you to apply just about anything at hard to reach areas on your face. Highly recommended for those who usually do full makeup.

Althea A’Bloom  BHA Blackhead Blaster

image

The packaging of Althea A’Bloom  BHA Blackhead Blaster is really cute too with cheeky cartoon on the packaging. The Althea A’Bloom  BHA Blackhead Blaster helps to remove blackheads easily. I have plenty of blackheads around my nose and I usually use those sticky nosepatch that left me winching in pain when I remove them but this Althea A’Bloom  BHA Blackhead Blaster definitely solve my problem. It’s pretty simple to use. Rub this on your blackheads, massage gently and rinse off the blackie substance with water. Now, don’t go expecting it to remove your blackheads immediately like those nosepatches, but it does help reduce the blackheads after a few times of usage. Despite the non-immediate result, I still like it alot cuz my pores looks smaller and smaller after some time and it stays that way, minus all the ouch. I was quite amazed with the result, and after Googling the ingredients, I discovered that this Althea A’Bloom  BHA Blackhead Blaster’s key ingredient is the Natural BHA (White Willow Bark Extract 5,000ppm) and the formula treats and prevents new blackheads from forming. Definitely better than nose patch, which does not help prevent new blackheads from forming.Very useful item to have on the go as well, as the size is pretty small and does not take up much space in your makeup pouch.

Overall, I am very impressed with the new Althea A’Bloom Skincare Series. Not only the packaging is so cute and appealing and gives off the happy vibe, but they are really nice to use too. The best part? While the effect is explosive, they come at a really affordable price and don’t cost a bomb.

These are exclusively available on Althea. If you are interested to make a purchase, just head over HERE.

How to Print Business Cards Online

Let’s admit it. It is 2019 and we are in the era where social media platforms like Facecook, Instagram, LinkIn and many more plays an important role when it comes to getting businesses connected with their prospect.

But as much as you use social media to connect your business to your prospects and leads, you will still need the old school way of self-introductory when you meet your prospects in a professional setting in real life. Believe it or not, a well-designed business card helps make a lasting good impression. Not only business cards are important, but Booklets and Flyers are important as well if you intend to host a business event and seminar.

Always remember that Business Cards, Booklets and Flyers make you look professional and credible.

There are plenty of sites where you can Print Business Cards online, but how do you go about it? Here’s sharing with you some tips on how to print business cards online:

1. Business Cards Size
Business Cards Size is a very important thing you need to consider before you print them online. Business card is a tangible and lasting representation of you. You need to carefully consider how it looks and feels. You can create good-looking business cards yourself by using business card tools on online website that offers business card printing services. Always pick business card size that is easy to store so that it will not be thrown away afterwards. The same goes if you want to Print Flyers as well.

2. Business Cards Designs

Most online printing services allows you to customize your own business cards, booklets and Flyer size by using their template. Remember to start designing your card with a template and customize what it includes based on the information you want to convey. If you are a physical store, you might want to include a street address, or maybe include social media accounts as well. Most services let you add or remove text boxes to your preference, so make use of that. You might want to add your logo on the on the cards too, but if you don’t have any pre-designed logo and whatnot, simply purchase those sold on the sites.

3. Printing Price

Card quality is about more than just weight and thickness. You also pay for textures. Linen, gloss, matte, and soft-touch are common choices offered on those online printing sites. All has their own appeal and characteristics.
Better type of papers for your cards usually costs more. If you are on a budget, simply choose the basic ones. They are mostly passable and quality-wise, still good. Make use of offers on those sites if any. Some offers cheaper price for more amount of cards that you order.

4. One Side Printing or Two Sides?

Printing on both sides of the cards can costs more, if you are on a budget, just opt for one side, otherwise, pick two sides as you can include more information about yourselves or the business that you are representing. If you want to Print Booklets, the same is applied too. The more pages you print for your booklet might cost more, so plan your content wisely so that the information you want to convey can be delivered effectively without costing more.

5. Delivery Time

Express delivery usually costs more, so do plan ahead on the timing if you need to use the business cards/booklets/flyers urgently. Last minute printing requests is a no no. There can be glitches where logistic is concerned due to bad weathers and stuff and you might not received your items in time.

As mentioned earlier in this article, there are plenty of sites that offers online printing services and it can be quite overwhelming to pick the online printing service that suits your needs. If you are a first timer, you might want to use www.gogoprint.com services. The site is easy to navigate and is user friendly. I hope the tips given is useful for you. Til next time, I wish you luck in all your business endevours.

Sunway Velocity Mall ‘Feeding Families’ CSR Campaign Spreading Compassion and Joy to The Community

For Sunway Velocity Mall’s Raya campaign, “Bunga-Bunga Raya”, the mall has organized a “Feeding Families” CSR campaign in respect of the month of Ramadan. As Ramadan is the time for reflection, improvement, and connection, Sunway Velocity
Mall stays true to its mission to be a community-driven mall by constantly engaging with its surrounding communities, including the under-privileged.

image

This initiative started when the management of Sunway Velocity Mall was alerted of the plight of urban child poverty and deprivation in low-cost flats in Kuala Lumpur through a UNICEF report published in 2018, Children Without. Thus Sunway Velocity
Mall made it a priority to reach out to a nearby Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR)
community, PPR Cochrane Perkasa, just 1km away from the mall.

image

Empathizing with the difficulties and struggles of the families, Sunway Velocity Mall pledged to provide “One meal a day” to 100 of its neediest children in 2019, to mitigate some of the parents’ worries of providing for their children, and to also ensure the children receive at least one nutritious meal a day, essential for their growth and learning. Children are our future and thus it is imperative that we provide them with a head start in their young life. Although this initiative is year-long and still on-going, Sunway Velocity Mall would like to invite its shoppers to help these families in need, especially during Ramadan and Raya.

image

The “Feeding Families” campaign was inspired by the meaning of Ramadan which is to appreciate what we have and be aware and understanding of others. Hence, for every redemption made by shoppers, Sunway Velocity Mall will be donating RM5 to the
“Feeding Families” CSR campaign.

image

On the 14th May, Sunway Velocity Mall invited 50 representatives of these families from the PPR to celebrate Ramadan. The mall was transformed into a suburban wonderland and furnished with a magnificent kampung house embellished with larger-
than-life bougainvillea flowers to spark the nostalgia of balik kampung for family gatherings.

image

The main highlight of the day was the distribution of boxes of necessities packed by Sunway Velocity Mall for these families. Each family received rice, condiments, cooking oil, noodles, and other necessities that would help for food preparation. All these were bought through the donation allocated through shoppers’ redemption. Everyone went home with a handful of goods and a whole-hearted
blessing from Sunway Velocity Mall for this Raya celebration.

As the theme of this festival is “Bunga-Bunga Raya”, the mall wishes for every new beginning to be fulfilling, joyous, and hopeful. Sunway Velocity Mall is passionate and committed to elevate the community and contribute to society through CSR, kids’ activities, and also events. Through this campaign, Sunway Velocity Mall hopes to plant the moral value of understanding and appreciation of each other. As we grew up learning the idiom ‘berat sama dipikul, ringan sama dijinjing,” this “Feeding Families”campaign taught us important values of helping each other as a community to thrive for the betterment of the society.

Things to Eat For Buka Puasa at Setapak Central Mall, Kuala Lumpur

I have been making a habit of cooking my buka puasa meals all these years during Ramadan, but this year things are rather hectic and I very much rather eat out instead of slaving in the kitchen for a meal. My choice of dining is of course Setapak Central Mall. Located just about 5 minutes drive away from home in Jalan Genting Klang, Setapak Central has been my regular weekend lurk for the past few years and this year, it has become my favourite place to dine during breaking fast time as well.

Here’s sharing with you 3 recommended eateries to break fast at this Ramadan:

1. Fish&Co

Experience the ‘Keseronokan Eid Al-Fitr’ at Setapak Central Mall, Kuala Lumpur

I moved out of my parents’ house in Penang 17 years ago to pursue my tertiary education and have been living in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur since then. A decade back, Setapak have pretty much nothing to offer apart from quiet housing areas, but fast forward to 2019, Setapak is now a bustling and lively district with loads of things to offer for both tourists and locals alike. Attractions in Setapak includes a variety of eateries, hotwater spring, a community library and P.Ramlee archive, just to name a few.

If you are a shophaholic, you’d be pleased to discover that Setapak is also a home to one of the most interesting shopping mall around; the Setapak Central Mall.
