Health is wealth. Won’t you agree on that with me? To me health is a wealth beyond measure. Let’s admit it, living in the world where the cost of living and medical fees are going up every single day, taking care of yourself and preventing yourself from being sick makes more sense than getting medical intervention when you are awfully sick. Not only you have to fork out alot money to get well again when you’re ill, but you’ll trouble and worry those who care for you as well. Both my parents and in laws are not exactly close-knitted. We only see each other once or twice a year during festive seasons and are living far away from me. My husband on the other hand, works almost all the time and don’t exactly have time to care for a sick person. Even if he wanted to take care of me when I’m sick, his work commitment is usually very demanding and more often than not, he needs to be elsewhere than taking care of both me and son when we get sick.

How about my son, then? Can’t he take care of me when I’m sick? Well, my son is a special need child and needed me to take care of him instead and although he is the most helpful child around, he can’t really take care of me when I’m sick.

The best way for a better life for both me and my son is to stay as healthy as possible and not fall sick often if we can help it.

Problem? Yes. I fall sick easily, especially during my menstruation. I sneeze alot, cough alot and I get fever easily during menstruation period. I notice I will start sneezing in the morning like nobody’s business, more than usual when I’m on my period. It’s like I’ve been cursed by some Period Demon or something. But alas, I discovered that there’s no Period Demon who laid a curse on me. It’s just that my immunity happens to be on the low side during those times of the month and my body is much more sensitive to the surroundings, hence the reaction; sneezing non stop that could easily lead to flu and slowly develop into a quick fever soon after. A doctor once told me, it’s my sinus acting up. It got more worst and I sneeze more during menstruation period as it is the time when my body is the weakest. I’ve been tolerating this sinus problem for years since I hit puberty, and have no ways of worming out of it until one day, I was introduced to Thymos Anti Sinus/Nasal Allergies Spray. When I was first introduced to this Thymos Anti Sinus/ Nasal Allergies Spray, I thought it’s a bloody scam, especially when they advertised this catchy phrase on their Facebook; ’10 years sinus, relief in 3 days’. I thought, how is it possible for a problem that I’ve been having since I was young be solved in just 3 days? Furthermore all you need to do is just spray this on your clothes, your pillow or simply use it like a perfume. This must be some sort of marketing gimmick. Or so I thought but surprisingly, this thing works like a charm.

And I was on my period, mind you. I usually sneeze like crazy in the morning when I’m on my period but this time around, it’s gone. I didn’t even sneeze once. It must have been either the spray has killed the unseen bad bacteria in the air that I’m allergic to or it has somewhat boosted my immunity, I don’t know which one but it really works and I’m definitely a happy camper.

and Food & Beverage (F&B) industry. This targets a 7.2% growth in labour productivity in the industry to meet the 2020 national level productivity target of RM92,300 per worker, as announced during the Official Launch of the Flagship Programmes held at
Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The Productivity Nexus for Retail and F&B is a one-stop centre that caters to enterprises to boost productivity while increasing innovation and capturing growth opportunities. The initiatives emphasises the development of a holistic ecosystem in order to increase technology adoption and further strengthen key industry enablers.
The Productivity Nexus is led by highly skilled and specialised individual who is committed in administering the implementation of productivity efforts as governed by the National
Productivity Council (NPC) and aims to forge close partnerships among industry associations and partners to strengthen industry-specific support infrastructure and foster cross industry
collaboration through various industry initiatives.

Through this, the platform, driven by the private sector and supported by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, aims to empower industry associations to become key change agents

Led by the Malaysian E-Commerce Chairman Ganesh Kumar Bangah, the first flagship program centres on guiding and equipping selected brick and mortar retail business owners to understand, adapt and master the online revolution. This programme aims to attain sustainable growth as well as increase sales by taking their businesses online.

The O2O Growth Venture Program, helmed by Fave Founder Joel Neoh, emphasises on venturing into new online sales channel and business model to increase sales of businesses.
It also educates on the adoption of digital tools and consumer insights.
Meanwhile, the Top Transformers program is designed for leaders in Retailing and F&B who are tasked to manage people and deliver results regardless of ranking to produce a well-tuned working environment. The program, championed by PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd Group Chief Executive & Managing Director Dato’ Michael Tio, has kicked off in January and will
commence until March.

Love shopping and retail therapy but not really into bursting your budget? Need to get stuff for your home but household items are usually sold at a very expensive price in the regular malls? Well fret not. There are plenty of places in Klang Valley where you can actually shop without breaking your bank account, but one that tops the list got to be Jalan Jalan Japan Preloved outlet.

As of writing, there are two Jalan Jalan Japan outlets. The first one is in One City Mall while another one is in 1Shamelin Mall. As the namesake, both are selling pre-loved items from Japan. I’ll be sharing with all of you here some useful hacks and tips on how to shop at Jalan Jalan Japan and how to stretch your Ringgit while shopping at Jalan Jalan Japan and make the most out of your money.

The one that I usually frequent is the one in 1Shamelin Mall Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

Now, the outlet is really huge and is segmented into a few sections, eg: Men and Women Clothings, Shoes, Bags, Accessories, Babies and Toddlers Clothing, Sports&Hobbies, Kitchen and Household Items and many more.

I’m a bit of a Grinch when it comes to holidays and festive season. I cannot stand the idleness and staying around not being productive, but if there’s one thing that I hate most about festive season is that I still need to meet up with friends and relatives and socialize around. Halal Chinese New Year’s Feast at Utara Coffee House, Armada Hotel PJ

Looking for a Halal restaurant that is offering splendid Chinese New Year’s feast? Here’s one; Utara Coffee House, Armada Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The restaurant is located in the heart of Petaling Jaya and is a Halal Certified restaurant that is offering delightful feast for those who want to host their Chinese New Year’s reunion dinner with their multi-religious family and friends.

Here’s yours truly with her all time favourite chef, Chef Chew. Executive Chef Chew and team offers nothing but the most magnificent feast for this coming Chinese New Year and here’s sharing with you some of the delicious Chinese New Year’s dishes that I’ve given the privilege to sample:

Lousang with Tiger Prawns and Clams. The prawns were not only fresh, but sweetly fat and juicy as well. The combination of prawns and clams is definitely refreshing in comparison to the traditional Salmon slices toppings.

Prosperity Chinese New Year Hor d’oeuvres. This platter contains an assortment of delicious finger food that’s rather addictive.

Braised Seafood Broth with Dried Fish Roe& Crabmeat. One of my favourite dish in the set, I must say. The soup was abundant with meat and was richly flavoured.

Steamed Chicken with Ginger&Scallions. I’m not quite a fan of steamed chicken. The paleness and the simplicity of the meal is quite a turned off for me, but I took a bite of this regardless and was pleased to find that they’re not plain tasting as they usually taste. The steamed chicken has no funny smell whatsoever and was rather sweet. Good on it’s own or to be paired with plain rice.

Deep Fried Grouper with Onion and Ginger Gravy was not only adeptly fried, but was flavourful as well.

Chinese Assortment of Meaty Rice. This was on the top of my favourite list. The rice was packed with delicious meat like chicken sausage, chicken ham and beef bacon. Rather addictive and if you are watching your diet, I would recommend you to go easy on this as you can easily spoon one mouthful after another and by the time you realized what you’ve done, you could have already consumed a bowlful or two.

Braised Mushroom with Mustard Plant in Fatt Choy Sauce. I’m not a fan of vegetable dish and I usually give them a miss. But Chinese New Year’s vegetable dishes usually means good luck and prosperity and I’m all for good luck and prosperity and so I had some of this. The huge mushroom was the size of my palm and was on the meaty note. The mustard plant was sweetly crunchy while the brocollies were simply delicious, having soaked up all the fatt choy sauce. If this were laid on your table, I suggest you not to skip it. Not because I’m superstitious but because they are delicious.

Poon Choy is one of the CNY specialty that shouldn’t be missed. There’s all sort of delicious meat and seafood in it, guaranteed to make you feel rich.

Stir Fried Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk. This dish was exquisitely yummy and finger licking good. The prawn were so fresh and bouncy and I find myself wanting more than just one or two of it.

Sautéed Top Shell in Yam Savarin. I’m allergic to yam, so I gave this dish a miss in favour of desserts.

Mochi, Deep Fried Nian Gao and Chilled Sweet Apple with Gingko are some of the desserts offered to this year’s Chinese New Year’s feast, a must have if you want to end your meal with a sweet note.

Where to Shop for Chinese New Year 2018: Sungei Wang

One of my favourite shopping mall to shop during festive season is Sungei Wang. The charming historical mall is not only strategically located in the golden triangle of Kuala Lumpur, but it also offers all kinds of everything at a very reasonable price in comparison to other malls in Kuala Lumpur. Finding things to buy in Sungei Wang is always delightful and as usual, I’ll be hunting down my Chinese New Year’s goodies over here in Sungei Wang again as I have done for the past few years.

Anyway, this year Sungei Wang is ushering the Lunar year of Earth Dog with the theme “Sungei Wang Garden of wealth”.

The celebration commences from 5 January to 22 February 2018.

Stepping into the year of 2018, Sungei Eang transforms into garden of wealth decked with shinny gold ornaments and decorations. At the Main Entrance, shoppers are greeted with a 10-feet tall God of Fortune wishing shoppers abundance of wealth. The highlight of the decoration is the whopping 18 feet tall golden money tree is erected on the stage showcasing the Garden of Wealth, fortune and prosperity. There is also a Golden Wishing Arch where shoppers who walk through it are expected to receive good wealth, fortune and prosperity in the Year of Dog.
