Malaysians has been typically crazy about all things salted eggs since the past few years. Once upon a time, I thought the heat will start to chill down after awhile, but a few years down the road, it’s proven that the madness is here to stay.
I’m not exempted from being affected by the eggie madness and while I was looking to stock up tidbits for my guests this upcoming Chinese New Year on www.homedeals.my a couple of days ago, I spotted these homemade My Chips Salted Eggs Potato Chips and decided I’d give it a go. They seems pretty interesting and promising and I thought perhaps these chips will give an exciting twist to the usual traditional tidbit offerings like peanuts and cookies.
These salted egg potato chips comes in two variant; one is the original while another one is the spicy version. They’re made from the finest potatoes and is generously flavoured with salted eggs.
MyChips Salted Eggs Potato Chips (Original) (RM23.90) tasted just like the regular potato chips, but with distinctive rich and creamy flavours that comes from the salted eggs coating. I don’t really recommend you to eat em in front of the TV, though. You’d find them magically gone before even your tv show is over.
My Chips Salted Eggs Potato Chips (Spicy) (RM23.90) is definitely potato chips at a different level that it taste almost gourmet. I kinda like this one more than the regular version of it. It may claimed that it is spicy, but personally speaking, it does not sting the tongue to the point you will need to drink water in between of snacking. If I need to describe it, I’d say it’s pretty much rich and flavourful as the regular version but much more appetizing and addictive.
Wanna get some of these to munch on too? Go ahead and click HERE or HERE. I assure you that these are simply fantastic.
My stress level have been pointing to the roof lately and anymore of it, I would have to visit the pshychiatrist or a psychotherapist to get myself all fixed up again. Resorts World Genting is proudly returning as host of professional esports tournament ESL One Genting 2018 for the second time. Together with ESL, the world’s largest esports company, thousands of fans are going to witness the best Dota 2 action on January 23-28, 2018. This event marks the third official Minor tournament of the year, as the top 16 Dota 2 teams will not only battle over a prize pool of $US400,000 but also for 400 coveted Qualifying Points that are collected to determine the eight direct invites to The International 2018. As the winner of the best esports event of the year at the Spia Asia – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards & Conference in 2017 – this year’s ESL One Genting promises to be even bigger and better than in 2017 and this would be a great opportunity for a real life ‘gaming experience’.
ESL has forged a multiyear collaboration with Resorts World Genting for the second year running after ESL One Genting 2017 as part of the expansion of the esports scene in Southeast Asia with further plans in the future.
A press conference was held at the Genting International Showroom, Resorts World Genting ahead of the event. Both Frank Sliwka, Chief Operating Officer at ESL Asia and Vice President of Promotions & Entertainment Kevin Tann from Resorts World Genting were at the press conference to give their respective speeches, followed by a screening of the ESL One aftermovie 2017 and a photo and Q&A session. Numerous Dota 2 cosplayers were around to bring the fantastic champions of Dota 2 to life.
“Following ESL One Genting 2017, which we saw being a huge success amongst enthusiastic young millennials at the event, Resorts World Genting is proud to be the host as the venue sponsor for the second year running,” said Kevin Tann, Vice President of Promotions & Entertainment at Resorts World Genting. “Esports is recognized as the next big thing in marketing and the size of the global esports audience has rapidly grown. Through ESL One Genting, we hope to connect with esports fans in an authentic way—a way that delivers added value to their experience and to the sport.”
“After our first installment in 2017, we already knew that it wouldn’t be our last event in Genting. The passion we have witnessed from the community on-site and the huge support from our partners at Resorts World Genting showed us how enthusiastic the Malaysian Dota 2 fans are,” said Frank Sliwka, ESL Asia Chief Operating Officer at ESL. “We are excited to work with RWG in the future to further establish esports in the Southeast Asia region to bring our content to people from all over the world.
The ESL One broadcast team for 2018 features an exciting team of notable faces from the world of esports to bring fans the Dota 2 live action. Eri Newman, who has hosted multiple ESL One tournaments including ESL One Manila 2016 in his home country, will be leading the talent team as stage host. Paul “Redeye” Chaloner as desk host and sideline reporter Jacob “SirActionSlacks” Kanner are familiar faces to the Dota 2 community. Owen “Odpixel” Davies and Austin “Capitalist” Walsh will complete the line-up as commentators to add their thrilling and witty observations to the game.
In 2017, more than 5,000 fans attended ESL One Genting on each of the three main event days, whereas over 11.4 million viewers consumed around 4.5 million hours of content online. The two teams Newbee and Digital Chaos fought their way up to the Grand Finals, delivering thrilling matches. It was Digital Chaos who eventually took home the ESL One trophy and US$125,000 in prize share.

So I’ve been coughing like crazy these few days due to the changing weather. I couldn’t sleep very well and when I do fall asleep, I’d be awaken by my own coughing.
And as usual, being me, I complained alot on social media to friends and stuff and they got really concerned about me.
While it is actually intended for babies who have coughing fits, flu this baby balm can be use for all walks of life and therefore the balm works adults like me too.
When I got my hands on this Balm Bayi Tok Syed, I was expecting it to smell unpleasant but surprisingly, it doesn’t even smell close to nasty like the usual balm that I’m familar with. In fact, the smell is pretty much fragrant and quite soothing.
Checking the ingredients, the balm contains Beeswax, Virgin Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil and Essential Oils. Basically, I concluded that this is somewhat an aroma theraphy kind of balm.
Finding the Balm Bayi Tok Syed rather appealing to my sense, I decided to give it a try after having a hot shower and go straight to sleep. Using it is pretty much straight forward, just apply it on your back, on your chest area or on the T-zone of your face. The same applies if you are using this Balm Bayi Tok Syed on your babies or toddlers. Just gently apply the balm on the said areas.
I’ve been using this for almost a week now and I kinda sleep better. I wouldn’t say that my cough is totally eliminated as it will be a total lie, but my coughing fits is noticeably reduced and I don’t wake up to my own cough anymore, which is already a huge relief. The best thing about this that Balm Bayi Tok Syed doesn’t stink and doesn’t feel as if you’ve put something hot on your skin and I woke up smelling as if I’ve worn perfume to sleep. I’m not a morning person but this helps to improve my mood when I wake up too, giving me a much more positive boost earlier in the day. It is also quite moisturizing on the skin and I swear that the skin area that I applied the balm feels smoother too.
Overall, I’m one happy camper and definitely will continue using this balm, especially before going to sleep.
Should you have babies who have trouble sleeping because they have coughing fits or runny nose, you might want to give this a go.

I’m petite in size and that could possibly give everyone the impression that I’m constantly on a diet and watching my figure, but truthfully, I’m actually none of those diet freak. It’s the other way around, actually. I’m a true blue foodie that’s pretty much a glutton. I enjoy all sort of food, but if there’s one thing that tops the list, it has to be seafood. Fresh seafood.
Growing up by the beach in Penang, Malaysia, I am very particular when it comes to seafood. It has to be fresh from the sea and nothing less. Living in Kuala Lumpur, I have to say that finding fresh seafood at a reasonable price to eat is kinda difficult. But lucky for me, Selangor is just half an hour drive away from my place and there are plenty of places that’s offering fresh seafood at a very reasonable price over there.
One of the places in Selangor that’s offering fresh seafood is Ombak Kitchen.
The restaurant is located somewhere quiet and serene in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam.
First impression that I have about this place that it’s quite a laid back place and really great for gatherings with family and friends.
Apart from that, the restaurant is also hosting live band performance, with an open mic concept. Nor sure on which days, though, but if you are ever there and wishes to perform can just approach the sound engineer and serenade away. My husband and I are into this sort of thing; dancing and singing in public is never a problem for us. And so we find this concept really entertaining and fun.
Here’s my husband performing ‘It’s Now or Never’ by Elvis Presley during our most recent visit to Ombak Kitchen. I would have joined him and sing a duet, like we usually do at open mic places but unfortunately I wasn’t really feeling so well that day and had to forgo singing on the top of my lungs that day. Such a shame. It was new year’s eve too.
Anyway, enough about the environment. Let’s start talking about food. Now, the place is not exactly a fine dining concept kinda place though the food could have rivaled something that came out from Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen.
Here in Ombak Kitchen, there’s no table rules. No cutleries will be given as the concept is that you eat with your hands apt with their tagline is ‘pakai tangan jer’ which is literally eat with your hands in Bahasa Malaysia. Here’s me, getting ready to dig in.
We ordered a selection of their Bubble Teas, Mojito and some appetizer to kick off our appetite. Being a tea lover, I hot to say that I love their bubble teas. Slightly on the sweet note though, so if you don’t want it to be too sweet, just request for less sugar upon ordering.
A closer look at the appetizers that we ordered; Fried mushrooms and garlic bread. The fried mushrooms were adeptly fried and makes a really addictive finger food. The garlic bread on the other hand, was good on it’s own but would make a better pair with some soup.
Here’s our boiled in Zesty Lemon Butter Garlic sauce being poured out from the bucket, straight onto our table for our enjoyment. Like I mentioned earlier, you’re supposed to enjoy them as it is, and therefore, no plates or cutleries will be given. So yes, feel free to go messy.
Our boiled seafood in Zesty Lemon Butter Garlic sauce.
A closer look at our boiled seafood; there’s plenty of assorted seafood in it, crustaceans, shells and also spotted in the meal are brocolli florets alongside with boiled potatoes and some corns. The boiled seafood meal also comes with a bowl of rice for each dining person.

When purchasing your first property via home financing, there are various factors to consider before committing into a loan. Different types of packages being offered in today’s market would mean that there are better options out there compared to 5 to 10 years ago. Usually, most buyers are only concerned about down payments or stamp duty payable for the property when they are looking for a unit in the market. Here are the few factors for a potential buyer to know before getting a home loan. Before getting a home loan however, one would need to prepare themselves for the stamp duty payable upon the completion of the property.
Types of loans
In Singapore, HDB flats represent about 80% of homes. HDB owners have a choice between taking a bank loan or a HDB loan. HDB loans are at 2.6% per annum. Banks have been able to offer lower interest rates compared to HDB loans. This has made most bank loans attractive, even for buyers who qualify for HDB loans. However, home loan rates charged by banks will fluctuate. In addition, once you take a bank loan for your HDB flat, you will no longer be able to revert back to HDB loan even if your bank loans interest rates go up in the future. It’s a one-way trip. As for HDB loan, few criteria are required before buyers can apply for such loans. HDB loans tend to have stable interest rates. To qualify for a HDB loan, here are some criteria to be met. At least one applicant must be a Singapore citizen and their total household income cannot be more than $12,000. He or She have not taken 2 or more HDB concessionary interest rate loans and this is only applicable for HDB flats (new or resale). Some housing loan could also include the stamp duty of the property being purchase by the buyer. Click here to view list of loans available in Singapore.
Loan Duration
For most people, they would prefer to stretch out the housing loan to the longest eligible period. Don’t be fooled by this move, however. It may be tempting to choose longer loan durations because that makes your monthly repayments look more “affordable”. The fact is that the longer your loan duration, the more interest you incur and the more you pay in total. A housing loan of $500,000 at an interest rate of 2.5% over a 10-year period will work out to be a monthly repayment of $4,713, with a total interest cost of $65,560. If you extend the loan to a 30-year period, monthly repayment falls to $1,976. However, your total interest cost will be $211,360. In total, you pay $145,800 more in interest for taking a 30-year loan instead of a 10-year loan for a sum of $500,000.
Fixed or Floating Interest Rates?
Most home loan packages offered by banks allow homeowners to choose between fixed or floating interest rates. Understanding the differences between the two is relatively simple.
Fixed interest rate loans mean that the bank guarantees you a fixed rate for a period of time. This can be anywhere between one year to five years. Since banks are in the business of borrowing money at a lower interest rate, and then lending them out at a higher interest rate, to be guaranteeing a fixed interest rate for a period of time is actually considered a risk for them. As such, most banks are likely to charge you a higher interest rate premium compared to floating rates. It’s also important to note that fixed rates are only applicable for a period of time.
Floating rates are interest rates that change based on the benchmark rates that they are tied to. In Singapore, two types of rates are usually used. They are the Singapore Interbank Offered Rates (SIBOR) and the Singapore Swap Offer Rate (SOR). Most banks will charge the floating rates plus a margin. For example, a home loan could be quoted as 3-month SIBOR + 0.5%. This means you pay whatever the interest rate is for the 3-month SIBOR (e.g. 1.0%) + 0.5% for a total of 1.5%.
SIBOR or SOR?
Both SIBOR and SOR are common benchmarks that banks used to determine interest rates for home loans. They appear rather similar but are not the same. Here’s a simple guide to understanding how they are different.
SOR is quite similar to SIBOR with the only difference being that it takes into account the interest rate payable in US Dollar, and not Singapore Dollar. This means that SOR rate is affected by the USD/SGD exchange rate. SOR tends to be more volatile than SIBOR since it takes into consideration exchange rate as well.
SIBOR on the other hand, can be best understood as the interest rates that Singapore banks are willing to lend and borrow funds from one another at.
With the above explanation, one should consider which type of benchmark would be suitable for their loan package.
Floating Rate: 1-Month or 3-Month?
Be it SIBOR or SOR, most banks will allow you to choose your preferred benchmark rates to be based on either a 1-month or 3-month average. 1-month averages tend to be more volatile compared to 3-month average. In actuality, interest rates rarely fluctuate so much. However, you can see how the 1-month SIBOR is more sensitive to changes compared to the 3-month SIBOR.
Penalty for Early Repayment
Aside from the interest rates and period of the loan mentioned above, you should also take into consideration the future plans that you have for the property that you own. Most banks will charge a penalty for early repayment and redemption. This could be a small percentage, usually about 1.5%, of the amount that you borrowed. Therefore, if you are the type who intends to sell the property within the lock in period, you should take note of this clause.
Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) had recently initiated Hope For the Future program for Selangor children through their Corporate Social Responsibility program prior to the commencement of the upcoming school term. In line with the role of MBI to uphold the name of MBI as an entity which channeling donations to the community through the recognised organisations, the initiative is aimed to gear children for a better future
To realize this effort, MBI has taken the initiative to channel the donations through school assistance to target groups in line with MBI’s main objectives; which is hoping to help the people in need and to ease their burden in preparing their children back to school, following the increase in the standard of living.

Having visited the aborigines settlement, Kampung Aman Damai in Royal Belum Rainforest, Perak quite some time ago with my husband and son makes me realized how privileged my life is in comparison to those who are living in the rural areas. I come to realized that I took alot of things for granted and among them, is the easy acess to clean water. I don’t have to walk miles away just to get clean water to drink. All I need to do is just turn the tap and I’ll have all the water that I need.
But, did you know that not all tap water are made equal? There are alot kind of water that runs from the tap that we commonly at home. The common water that we have at home are usually water that has been through treatment process, and they are unfiltered. This type of water, although are good enough for normal hygenic and cleaning purposes, is not exactly good for your health in the long run as it quite acidic in nature and contains particles that’s not good for your bodies and could affect your health in the long run.
If you consume acidic water for a long period of time, you may suffer the following symptoms: feeling fatique, constant indigestion, pale-looking and dry skin and many more. According to nutritionists and experts, water that’s great for our bodies is alkaline water. Alkaline water actually helps in our bodily functions.
Now, as some of you might probably be aware of, I have just recently moved into a new apartment and the apartment is not furnished. The kitchen at best is bare, apart from the build in cabinets. There are no water filters and whatnot, but realizing how important a water filter is for my family’s daily usage, I decided to get one that’s hassle- free on the installation, Diamond Coral Alkaline Water Machine.
Here’s the entire set of Diamond Coral Alkaline Water Machine. The water from Diamond Coral Alkaline Water Machine gives you non-acidic water, perfect for drinking. I wouldn’t get too technical about it, but basically, the filter material, which is Coral Calcium is the filter material that’s in the Diamond Coral Alkaline Water Machine helps to filter the water from the tap and produces non-acidic water. The one I have here is the model Diamond Coral Platinum. It’s pretty compact and doesn’t take up much space in my kitchen. Very basic installation is required, but if you’re a complete dummy at installing stuffs like this, no worries, you don’t have to do anything yourself. The delivery staff will help you assemble and they will also brief you on how to use and clean the filter.
Let me show you what Diamond Coral Alkaline Water Machine is made of; check out the tap.
The one with a small tube is where your filtered water flows out while the bigger hole is where your normal unfiltered tap water will flow out.
This button is for you to turn all-the-way RIGHT for Filtered Diamond Coral Alkaline Water and LEFT for unfiltered tap water.
This Diamond Coral Platinum has 6 different filters.
Once you open the cap you can see the filters labelled as A and so on. Filter A is the only filter that you need to clean every 2-3 weeks of usage. Other cleaning service and whatnot, just make use of the after sale service.
The filtered water has no weird smell whatsoever and tasted slightly sweet. Apart from normal consumption, the water from Diamond Coral Alkaline Water Filter can also be used in many ways to improve your health inside out.
I really love this new gadget of mine. I can drink straight from the tap without any worries. It makes food and cooking preparation faster and easier too. I swear my rice, soup and porridge tasted much better after using this.
And oh, I use the filtered water as face mist as well and it helps to keep my skin better hydrated than regular tap water.
Anyway, apart from the Diamond Coral Water Machine, I also decided to try out the Diamond Coral WaterBar as well.
Diamond Coral WaterBar features Smart Warm Water Regulator and 3s Instant Heat Technology.
This is the Diamond Coral WaterBar. It’s somewhat a water dispenser. It dispense water in 3 temperature.
*Hot Water Button (98 degree celcius)
*Warm Water Button (50 degree celcius)
*Room Temperature Water Button (18-25 degree celcius)
This device also comes with a Safety Button to avoid scalding. The Hot Water Button is only enabled when the Safety Button is in blinking green lights.
It’s pretty easy to use. All I need to do is just fill in the water tank first by using the Diamond Coral Alkaline Water. The tank can fill up to 2.8L. You may have your water plain or add in any fruits if your preference if you or your family members do not like plain water taste. Personally, I like it plain as I also use it not only to dispense drinking water, but also use the water for food preparation as well eg: baking cakes, making tempura fritters etc.
I’ve been using this for about a week now and I have to say, preparimg drinking water for my family has never been easier. Tea making in the morning or midnight instant noodle making is just a push of the button away. I highly recommend this device, especially if you have small kids around. It definitely would make milk making process quicker and much more convenient.
Are you a coffee or tea person? I’m pretty much a tea person while my husband is a coffee person. My blog’s name, ‘Over A Cuppa Tea’, suggest that much, but these days, I pretty much do fancy both and has taken quite a liking to cafe hopping to hunt for coffees or simply chilling in the cafe with my husband over a cuppa coffee or two. There’s simply something charming and romantic about drinking coffee with your loved ones in a quiet cafe somewhere. And of course, inspirational too. I noticed that I’m much more productive with my work whenever I do it while I’m in a cafe and I eventually yearn more and more to enjoy the same experience at home.
A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet, but unfortunately for me, not all coffees are made equal and enjoying a satisfyingly delicious cup of coffee in the comfort of my home or office is almost impossible. I can never completely imitate my favourite barista’s brew at home. At least, not with those 3 in 1 pre-packed coffees sold in convenient stores. While they do offer me some caffeine fix, they do not actually satiate my cravings for real brewed coffees.
Fortunately for me though, there’s a solution for my dilemma; Arissto Happy Maker 2.0 Espresso Machine.
My new Arissto Happy Maker 2.0 Espresso Machine, still in a box.
Arissto Happy Maker 2.0 Espresso Machine. The machine is pretty compact and the design lets you fit it into any small corner of your choice.
.
And unlike the traditional coffee makers, this coffee machine uses coffee capsules instead of coffee beans.

This full-bodied and balanced flavour with a touch of floral notes makes you feel like you’re enjoying the Italian moonlight.

Coffee in the making
My very own Rose Machiatto.
Brewing a highly inspirational cup of coffee has never been easier.
The coffee machine comes with an elegant and classy appearance. The best part of it all? It is very light and compact. Definitely the perfect coffee machine for people who has small kitchen area. And on that note…it is perfect for any office pantry too.
Anyway, if you are feeling charitable and wanna do good, there is currently a charitable coffee challenge organized by ARISSTO titled ARISSTO Coffee Charity Challenge which aim to help 500 poor children to make better life. In this challenge, the organizer will provide ARISSTO Italian Premium Coffee and challenge the participants on their favourite coffee. The participant will be the judge to compare both coffee. Charity will be given by the organizer to the poor children with every participation. This challenge also provide a useful reference for the organizer to pursue perfection in coffee art.
All you need to do is select your favourite coffee, the time and venue of the challenge eg: office, home or any preferred place and ARISSTO ambassadors will deliver ARISSTO coffee to the venue and start the challenge. You can compare the taste and purity of the coffee. No matter what is the conclusion, by uploading the challenge photos to Facebook, ARISSTO will donate to the poor children for your participation. Awesome right?
