Some of these schools may be a surprise while others are right where you would guess them to be. We see that these schools not only offer a good Masters of Fine Arts in Writing degree, but that they are some of the best out there.
1.Northwestern University: This is one of the best programs out there and at a very well known and celebrated school. They are known for much more than just this program but they focus on this very specific and very competitive type of program and they do it well. They have studied what it takes to be a top school with this degree and put a great deal of effort into developing curriculum that really challenges their students. This goes beyond just being a good writer as the work is hard and the rewards at graduation are immense as they celebrate a high success rate for their students.
2.Hollins University: Only twelve students are accepted into this prestigious writing program each year. If you are going to pursue a degree such as this then you must be prepared to take on a good fight to get into a program such as this. They are one of the best out there and it’s due in large part to the individual attention that they can give to their writing students. If you graduate from here with this Masters degree you will have a great deal of respect attached to your name and will do quite well in the writing field.
3.University of Iowa: This is a smaller school and many would say that makes it a perfect setting for students to really succeed within. This is where writers go to pursue their degree and to really do well within this specific field. They can concentrate on their writing and get the help and direction of professors who are some of the best in the field. This is a very well known program within this degree type and therefore it’s a hard one to get into, but those that get in will really do well once there.
4.Western Michigan University: This is a school in Michigan that isn’t necessarily well known for many programs as it is much smaller than the Big Ten schools within the state. When it comes to this particular Masters degree though it is a great program to be a part of. You can pick a focus or take a broader approach but the program overall is quite competitive. This has a great reputation attached to it and isn’t necessarily as well known by the masses as others on the list. They have a fantastic curriculum and a great approach to providing future writers what they need to succeed.
5.University of Wisconsin-Madison: They are a well regarded program in this concentration and those are hard to find. The school overall has many good programs and this is one that they are ranked highest in. They have brought in talent from around the world and have really concentrated on offering curriculum and direction that students can gain the skills that they need from.
These schools offer a unique program and they are the best in the field. Though you may not have heard of them, they are the best of the best and therefore great ones if you want to get a leg up on the competition.

All in the US? None in the UK kah? Anyway, I do not have a basic degree so going to do a masters is out of the question. Sigh!

I have heard of all these universities but didn’t know that they have this special Masters of Fine Arts in Writing!!!!! The standard of English here is so rotten and I have seen so many Mass Comm graduates who applied to become copywriters in advertising agencies. I almost fainted when I interviewed them!
